Refrigerator Styles

If you are investing a good part of your budget in your kitchen, you are more likely to want either a built in refrigerator or a cabinet depth model. These high priced refrigerators, generally side by side or bottom freezer models, create a seamless overall look to your kitchen.

The built-ins come in stainless finish or take panels that match your cabinets, a very costly but pleasing option. Most come unfinished and you will have to pay your kitchen contractor a fee to have them match your kitchen style. They can be taller than the average fridge even though the depth is less as it aligns with your current cabinets. The compressor can be on top, making for a noisier appliance. Costs can range from $4,000 to more than $7,000 for brands like Sub Zero and Viking.

A step down in price points is the cabinet depth free standing refrigerator that fits flush with your cabinets. Keep in mind that the decrease in depth also means a decrease in storage space. These models come in stainless and also take cabinet panels to effect a high design kitchen but are cheaper than their built in sisters, costing $1,500 and up.
