Instead of steel, LG has put a special polymer in the discharge valve of its linear compressors. Sounds like a small thing, but a linear compressor drives the pistons in a linear movement rather than a rotary motion…the polymer discharge valve is slow to transfer heat into your refrigerator. Too much information? Well suffice it to say, linear compressors with this special valve can reduce your refrigerator’s energy consumption by 30%. It’s quieter and lasts longer, too.
