New fridge gadget

The refrigerator magnet industry just received its death knell.

Samsung Electronics has a new wazoo refrigerator called the POPCON. POPCON’s acronym is for Popular Convergence. Instead of little (not to mention annoying and ugly) magnets, Samsung has turned the front of the fridge into a total information center via a TFT (read Thin Film Transistor) LCD. Its over ten inches wide, detachable and touch sensitive. Your family just clicks through menus (of the digital kind) via onscreen buttons, or writes a message with the included stylus pen.

Got a problem remembering when you changed the filter on the water purifier…just enter it on the fridge door…when did you make that gravy, it is gravy isn’t it? The POPCON will tell you.
