Compare Camcorders: Digital vs. Analog
The least expensive camcorders on the market are analog, with some models priced around $250. Analog models have poorer picture and sound quality, considered "good" compared to the "very good" to "excellent" quality offered by digitals.
Analogs, however, are less expensive and can be found in models as compact and easy to use as some digital models. A digital camcorder is a must if you have interest in editing your footage, while an analog model may be suitable if you would just like to preserve memories without the extra work of editing.
