Hi H.S. You know i could not resist answering this last post by you,

If K.N. filters ever got into the pleated filter market for vacuums, it would almost double the price of the vacuums.

As you well know if you want performance wheather out of a vacuum, or high performance car, boat, or garden tractor, price is not an issue.

of course Hoover has not ever try to set any land speed record with a windtunnel.

Although off topic, a couple points about K&N filters;

K&N is known for low air resistance/high air flow, not maximum filtration. A lot of fine dirt gets past their cotton weave and into the car engine, requiring frequent oil changes.

Also, K&N filters use __oil__ as the dust attractant and holder in the cotten weave. They are an absolute mess to clean.

You are correct. Incresased performance with a risk of engine failure.

Do you realize how difficult it is to clean a pleated Hoover filter. Why should one be expected to clean a Hoover filter but replace a pleated filter on an auto engine?

O.K. Guy's we know where this road is leading to, lets not get going on it again, pleated hepa filters and flat cellulose activated charcoal filters can co exist.

Although a ill fitting filter is not good for a vacuum motor or internal combustion 706 cu.in. 4 stage nitrous assisted, fulton out law motor..............

Hardsell...I do not recommend ANY bagless cleaner. Personally, I just do not like them. It is just a personal preference. However, the agitator in the Hoover is always a good choice to get your rug clean. You can clean the nasty stinking pleated filter as much as you want. In fact use whatever bojack cleaner you want to clean the filter. I would recommend a bagged vacuum so that there is less maintenance for the average user.

Are there any published statements regarding the number of hours of use for which it will not begin to crack and leak? And is this filter the same design as used in the other Self Cleaning Hoover filter models?

Same design but different filters. The HOOVER WT 2 has a larger filter of the same design as the HOOVER Z. Observation and use of both models probably explains the reason. And some other factors may contribute.
