If its the weekend then we have vacuum sales.

Unfortunately no one gets the coveted Parade feature this week.

Dyson is the big winner with sales at SEARS and BEST BUY.  SEARS offering an instant $100 GIFT card ON ANY dyson purchase thru June 18.  BEST BUY has the DC14 Animal for $549 BEFORE an instant $50 cash off on purchase.

HOOVER gets two of its 3 best sellers at SEARS too: THe HOOVER Self-propelled WT and the STEAM VAC.  Two of its Murderers' Row line up of floor care products.

Even KOHLS joins the dyson bandwagon of sales with the DC07 for $399 and the DC14 Animal for $549.99.  But wait what's this more off on dyson?  Guaranteed 15, 20, and 30 percent off now through Tuesday June 13.  Creative way to beat the 10 percent dyson MAP.

Dyson DC14 All Floors even gets into the Home Depot sales.  But shares the limelight with HOOVER and the Empower ($90) and the 3 member of Murderers' Row: THe Floor Mate for $169.

TARGET is lite on the vacuums sales: Only BISSELL one if its top sellers.  Could it be, ts gearing up for the launch of the new HOOVER Wind Tunnel?

Lowes has its typical array of SHOP VACS on sale: 4 models from $69 to $169 with nice features: Ultra quiet operation, 20 foot cords, stainless steel design, transport handles.  Claims 50 percent less noise than the competition.

(PS: None of the retailers with dyson sales cites the famous (or infamous) claim NEVER LOSES SUCTION.  Interesting?  Who was the big winner in the advertising settlement agreement?  Dyson versus HOOVER.  Wink

Happy Vacuuming.

If it's the weekend it must be vacuum sales time: Not.  HAPPY FATHER"S DAY to all the Daddies out there.  Even sales take a holiday for their superiors: Dads.

Slim pickins.  No vacuum sales in the prestigious PARADE and a venue of old reliables at the usual retailers.

The tried and true EUREKA BOSS SMART Vac at BEST BUY for $140.  One of their top sellers.  And the DD Dual 2 for $159: with the mantra: Cyclonic filtration for "sustained suction."  Even the old dyson DC07 Animal (over 3 years old now) for $499 (same old same old) but no mention of the dyson suction claim.  Interesting.  Outdone by DD!  Come on for the Ball now discounted at $400 and even less.

And at Kohls: Same old same old; DC07 All Floors for $399.  No mention of suction claim either.  I think we have a trend here by retailers.

SEARS has the usual Kenmore suspects plus the EUREKA Altima for $99.  Nothing new here.

Target is a no show for vacuums and KMart has the usual array of cheapo's with a DD Breeze for $44 and a one year product replacement for $5.  People like this deal.

Have to wait until next week to see the new good stuff!

Bye bye.

Target now has their own Dyson sold exclusively for them and it's called the DC14 Drive.

Yes, it has been mentioned.  I opined, and will again for your benefit, that dyson had leftover Car Care Kits from the free promotion.  This retails for $84.99 and was free with the purchase of a dyson.  THe promotion ran the month of April at most retailers who sell dyson vacuums.  Dyson took the leftover attachments added them to the DC14 and gave it a new name.

Do you know the retail price of the Drive?  I believe it's $459 which makes it a better buy, if you are DC14 inclined, than the All Floors for $430.

Hi Carmine,

The Best Buy in Union, NJ already has them both on display – The “Windtunnel 2” is $299.99 and the “Windtunnel 2 Surface Command” is $339.99 –

As of 2 days ago, the Purple VAX was down to $139.00 (new in the box – 1 left), the Dyson DC15 All Floors was down to $262.00 (no stock left), The White Hoover Z was $199.99 (no stock left), and the Blue Hoover Z was $249.99 (new in the box - 2 left)…

The End caps are Dyson DC14 Animal, Bissell Spot Bott, Roomba, and Hoover Rewind…

The coveted PARADE advertising feature goes to SEARS and HOOVER with an array of vacuums and floor care products including the brand new HOOVER WindTunnel 2 Extra Reach for $299.99.  THis is the official launch of the new HOOVER WT. Thank you SEARS. (Could SEARS Holdings be the lucky owner of HOOVER  Wink? )  Have to wait and see.

Not too much happening elsewhere.  BEST BUY has the usual suspects including the now over 4 years old DC07 All Floors for $399.  Wow, seems like a lot of dinero when you can get the newer and better DC14 for $429 at HOME DEPOT (also advertised) and/or the new DC14 Drive for $459 with the tools from the CAR CARE KIT (that retail for $84.99).  But don't look for any vacuum sales at TARGET this week which is a no show.

KMart has the usual array of cheapos but spices it up with the claim: Now all the Kenmore vacuum products are at kmart.com.

Bye bye.

OFF TOPIC:

But it looks like Dyson isn't out of the washing machine market for good after all.

Mr Dyson insists instead that a new type of washing machine now being worked on by a research and development team at Dysons headquarters in Malmesbury, Wiltshire will be better than the first one.

Mr Dyson says: We will develop a new machine and then see how many people want to buy it. I am sure it can be a success.

Interestingly the FT article quotes unit sales for washers and market value of sales for vacuums.  For washers the FT cites 18,000 of the dyson washers sold in 2002 (its best sales year) and 2500 in 2005 (its worse sales year) when the washer was pulled off the market.  James Dyson disagrees with the numbers. But does he give his own?  No.

Also the value of market share of the dyson vacuums sold in the UK declined from 44 percent in 2004 to 37 percent in 2005, a steep drop.  Reason: Fierce price competition in the vacuum industry in the UK.  SOunds like the USA.  James is silent on the sales drop for dyson vacuums from year to year in the UK.

And last but not least, I still detect a lingering resentment on the part of the UK people for the decision to relocate the production plant from Malmesbury to Malaysia.  This is a recurring criticism of dyson and James that just won't go away.  And may be a factor in the declining sales especially repeat customer business.  Which? and the 7 years that dyson topped the worse reliability in vacuums may also be a contributing factor.
