Where is the Snow?
Original Message   Jan 18, 2005 2:02 pm
Has anyone been getting any significant snow besides Hickster in Alaska? Where is it?

If this keeps up much longer, deals on snowblowers are to be had.

Nothing over 2" here yet. Brand new Ariens itchin' to go. The neighbors are looking at me weird- probably because I start up the blower and tool around the driveway on sunny days !

Nothing wrong with taking your Ariens for a walk on a sunny day.

Weird is taking it for a walk in the rain.

so far this season we have had over three feet of snow on my hill here in northern jersey...

this however required my piling the piddling dustings we have had in to a  pile.

the weather folks are toying with us by "forecasting" 6+ inches this weekend, we will see.

We had 10 inches on the ground, but most if it melted due to the severe thunderstorms we had last week. I am looking forward to the 7-12 inches expected on Saturday

Wow, it's great to have nice toys to play with in these predicted storms.  Saw me, that kind of snow is coming real soon.  8-12" expected here, but if the coastal currents behave we could see...how about that...more!    It's a good thing that more people living in PA are joining this forum, as it is great to hear about their experiences.  Let's hope more is to come that 1'.  WOW!!

Environment Canada's Official Weather Warnings

Warnings

St Johns and vicinity
10:51 AM NST Saturday 22 January 2005

Blizzard warning for
St Johns and vicinity continued

Near zero visibilities in snow and blowing snow are expected to spread throughout the above regions today. Visibilities will improve overnight as the bulk of the snow moves offshore and winds gradually diminish.

An intense low pressure system southeast of Newfoundland will track northward today to lie east of the Avalon Peninsula. Total snowfall amounts of 25 to 35 centimetres is expected over the Avalon Peninsula with lesser amounts to the west. Strong northerly winds gusting anywhere from 70 to 100 km/h will develop by this evening. These winds combined with the falling snow and cold temperatures will give near zero visibilities in blowing snow and give blizzard conditions to the Avalon and east coast. Conditions will improve overnight as the snow ends and winds diminish.

Strong northerly winds will combine with cold temperatures over northern and central sections tonight to give extreme wind chill values near minus 35.
