Guys,

I did what you suggested, using the manual as a guide, and made the pulley adjustment to the belt, then checked the tension on the spring - all looks good and the thing really kicks %$*# now!  Thanks so much for your help!

One thing though is that with the auger control handle down the attachment belt is still not what I would call tight. How tight should that belt be with the auger handle in the engaged position?

TIA

Chuck

Thanks guys! I didn't adjust the belts after the breakin. I'll give those adjustments a shot this afternoon. I'll let you know how I make out.

Cheers,

Chuck

Ariens 11528LE making strange noises

I just came in from blowing my drive and I’m finding that my relatively new Ariens 11528LE (bought last year) seems to be struggling to blow snow. As soon as even a minimal load is place on it the unit begins to ‘chirp” or “squeal” and at the same time the volume of the snow that gets thrown is reduced substantially. Could it be a belt slipping?

I read other posts here that suggest that ice can get behind the impeller. That’s not the case here as the unit is stored indoors. Anyone have any insights?

Thanks in advance.

Re: '05 Ariens 11258LE cuts out!

Over lunch today I took off the gas cap and removed the cone like insert. Behind the cone insert was a foam washer that looks as if it was folded in half. I straightened it out, put it back in place, pushed the cone gently into the gas cap and put the cap back on. I fired it up and let it run for 10 minutes or so – it ran fine. It seems as if your suggestion worked! I hope that’s all it was. Thanks Fred!!

'05 Ariens 11258LE cuts out!

We had our first snow last night. This morning, while blowing the driveway the unit just started cutting out,  just like it was out of fuel. It cut out 3-4 times. I waited a couple of minutes and it would start again, run for a couple more minutes then die again! The gas was on. Very frustrating!

I wouldn't be so miffed had I not done everything to winterize the unit: changed the oil, put in fresh stabilized fuel, topped up the fuel tank , greased and oiled all the components etc. This machine only has about 10 hrs service on it as I bought it new last year. Anyone with any insights as to what's causing this?
