So I put my carb back together after letting it soak a few days. I put everything back and the blower seemed to run rather nice, untill near the end it started sputtering again so I was wondering what the problem was again, untill I let the blower stop for a few mins and notice a puddle under it in the snow...it was gas.. I shut everything off and noticed the fuel bowl was so loose that gas was coming up and spilling over and down under the blower. I thought I did the nut on tight, but I guess it came loose. Is there something I can put on the bolt to stop it from coming loose like loctite? or would that not be a good idea?

I have no idea how much I am supposed to torque the 12MM bolt to.

     

YOu could match up sizes at home depot for a lock nut(nut with plastic coated threads. An easier but almost as effective way would just be to buy a pack of lock washers, they are washers with a cut in them. Its like $0.59 for a 20 pack or something at home depot.

Is it a Tecumseh? There's supposed to be a washer there. I replaced mine with a nylon one.  Thread locking compound would probably be dissolved by the gas.

Thread locking compound should NOT be used! It will block the metering holes! If your bowl is leaking, replace the bowl gasket & bowl nut washer/gasket with Tecumseh parts. Anything else used will give you trouble. If it STILL leaks, then possibly the float or needle/seat are defective.

Its not a tecumseh, its an older honda HS35 carb. The only reason it was leaking is the nut came loose to hold the bowl on, and when I checked it, the bowl was litterally dangling by the last thread on the screw, cause I could spin the bowl around and make it wobble side to side, so the gas was simply spilling over the top where the bowl normally seals with the rubber washer.
