I also have a Kawasaki on my Scag mower, and i run straight 30 wt. Almost ANY engine will burn some oil, and oil consumption CAN and WILL increrase when a thinner oil is used. Years ago cars ran fine with thicker oils. Heck, have some bad bearings in a old big block, run heavier oil to keep the oil pressure up. But with newer engines, and " Energy Conserving" thinner lubricants, tolerances although tighter, can alow some oil by and burn off. My ford 4.6 burns a quart or so between changes, and the manual stresses 5W30. I bet some 40 wt would elimiate the loss.

I have a Troy-Bilt Rotatiller that calls for SAE 30 oil, can I use Synthetic 10W30 or any 10W30 for that matter?
