There's one caveat about - overstock.com.  Many of their Dysons are refurbished returns with 180 day warranties.

Hello RAT:

Yes, indeed.  These dysons are refurbs with 180 day warranties.  Interestingly the Overstock.com Web Site with the dyson ads and prices don't say this upfront--REFURBS [as required by law].  But if you click a few more times and navigate thru the screens you get this additional info.  Shades of Regina in the 80's.   Wink

Check out E-BAY ,theres 7 pages of dysons listed right now......

and you get to put out the fires fellow dyson warranty dealers Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy.

Hello OT:

A nice way for dyson to treat its indy's.  The big box and internet retailers make the do ra me, and the indy's sweep up to get the crumbs.

If I were a vacuum store indy, I'd thumb my nose at dyson.  And do the dyson warranty and/or repair work if the customer doesn't want to ship it back to dyson in Chicago and do it for top dollar.  To heck with the dyson warranty store status.

Or trade the dyson in on an indy brand [which may have been the cases for many of these returns].  Obviously there are tons of new sale dyson returns that are now refurbs and repacks [all counted as new dyson sales at least once and possibly twice--shades of Regina in the 80's].  And with a 180 day guarantee, likely that these dyson refurbs will be in need of parts and repairs after the 180 days are up.

Sock it to dyson.  Give it a dose of its own medicine.

COSTCO is selling the IRobot Rhoomba Scheduler for $259 BEFORE a $50 Manufacturer's rebate for $50.  So the final price is $209.  Offer is good thru July 30.

Kohl's is planning to heat up summer sales on all of its floorcare merchandise soon.  Giftcards AND cash back rewards for Kohl's credit card floorcare purchases.  Should be receiving the details soon and will post on the Forum.

Starting July 12 thru the 17, for every $50 in Kohl's charge card purchases in store and on-line, buyers receive $10 in Kohl's cash coupons redeemable in Kohl's stores only July 18-August 2, 2007.  So how does this help vacuum shoppers and buyers?

Well, here's how.  From July 12-17, the dyson DC07 for $399 and DC17 Absolute for $549 get buyers a $50 Kohl's Gift card (by mail and for in-store buyers).  And that's not all.  The Rug Doctor Mighty Pro has the same deal and the BISSELL ProHeat 2X top of th line rug cleaner.  Plus store sales on other vacuum makes and models.  Check stores for the brands and prices.

Let's look at the vacuums on sale this week by the big box retailers.  First, the no shows and no goes:  Kohl's.  Why?  Probably gearing up for the sale to come July 12, see above.

BEST BUY has the Eureka Maxima bagless upright for $59; the BISSELL Cleanview bagless upright for $74; the HOOVER WT bagless upright for $159 AND the HOOVER WT 2 BAGGED upright for $229.  That's it.  No others.

TARGET has a newbie for sale: Finally the new Eureka Capture bagless upright for $129.  With the self-cleaning SpinDuster [hailed by Consumer Reports for its ingenuity and effectiveness]; the Eureka Optima bagless for $55; the BISSELL CleanView 11 for $75 [a newbie for TARGET just like the HOOVER Elite Rewind last week].  I mentioned that retailers are scrubbing, culling and adding vacuums to get the most of the brands and models in stock and on sale.  Here is the proof at TARGET.

Also at TARGET, the Lift-off for $169 BEFORE a $20 giftcard.  Excellent deal.  And finally the DC17 Absolute Animal for $549--no deals on it.  May have to wait to Labor day.

Linens-n-Things has no vacuums on sale save a Dustbuster rechargeable for $9.  But it has the 20 percent off coupon valid thru Juy 29 on dysons too.  And recall the new dyson models are in stock and on the Web site.

Circuit City has the BISSELL CleanView Power Trak for $99 AND the dyson DC18 lite for $469.

Unfortunately, both CC and TARGET are still quoting the dyson claim to shame: Never clogs and never loses suction.  Advertising Standards Agency came down on dyson for this after over 30 dyson buyers cried foul.  XClaiming their dysons clogged and lost suction both.  Some retailers still haven't gotten the word and/or "cleaned up their act" as we use to say in Jerzee.  [Kudos to Kohl's AND Lowes for doing so very quickly].  Just wondering if this has and will hurt dyson sales.  A question for the dyson fawners to ponder and answer.

KMart has the Kenmore bagless canister for $39 (With automatic cord winder feature); BISSELL QuickSteamer for $69 with free solution; BISSELL Momentum upright bagless for $99 and the HOOVER WT bagless upright for $159.

Finally, this week's winner.  ORECK with a full page in the Smart Source section of the Sunday paper.  For the XL Deluxe, one of Dave's favorite.  And all the bennies: 5 year warranty, 3 free annual services; housekeeper compact canister; cordless iron and free shipping.  And don't forget the free in home no risk no bligation 30 day trial.  Such a deal.  And if you qualify: Only $22 a month.

That's all folks.

Hi Carmine,

The following machine, the so aptly titled "South Asian Pacific HEPA Bagless Upright . . ." probably missed your Sunday Parade.  Wnere on Earth did Best buy dig up a $25.00 vacuum?  Have you seen this or is this an online only item?

Hello Venson:

Verry interesting.  But not surprising.  Why?  Big box retailers are culling, scrubbing and adding new merchandise to the shelves to position themselves for the last quarter of 2007 and the Holiday and year end  sales.

Witness the new EUREKA Capture bagless upright models, the Dirt Devil bagless upright i-vacuum and Spinnergy, HOOVER bagless Mach 3-4-5 upright models, HOOVER bagless nanolite, the new Euro-pro Infinity bagless upright exclusive for COSTCO, the new GE bagged canister and companion bagless upright,  and on and on.

$25 HEPA bagless upright with cordwinder.  10 pounds.  7 amps.  BEST BUY will sell alot of them.  I'll buy at least one.

The name says it all.   Wink

Talking about launching new models, BISSELL updated it's "seasoned" Lift-off with the new "Lift-off" Revolution Pet Bagless Upright for $169.  Lowe's has in stock and ready for sale.

Lowe's and it's competitor Home Depot are frequently missed in the Sunday sales' ads because they advertise mid week.  This week is no exception.  Both retailers are huge sellers of vacuum cleaners.

From July 12-19, ALL HOOVER FLOORCARE products are on sale at Lowe's stores for 20 percent off.  Including the HOOVER Floormate hard surface cleaner; SteamVac All Terrain; and Elite bagless upright REWIND.

That's not all: As mentioned above the new BISSELL Lift-off Revolution Pet Bagless upright; EUREKA Altima bagless for $79; and the dyson DC18 lite for $469.

As I previously mentioned Lowe's was one of the first retailers to conform to the ASA ruling against dyson and scrub the infamous claim to shame: Never loses suction, never clogs.   Fact is Lowe's removed the dyson claim from all ads while the ASA was still considering its ruling and hadn't offcially announced it.  Kudos to Lowe's and Kohl's [for doing the same].

Even dyson corrected its Web site finally.  Smiley

HOME DEPOT which like SEARS and BEST BUY and other big box retailers are feeling the brunt of the protracted housing market downturn on 2007 operations and sales, has vacuum sales from 7/12-7/18.  The models are the HOOVER HEPA EmPower bagless upright for $99; BISSELL ProHeat 2x deep cleaner for $199; and Dirt Devil EXTREME POWER Cordless Hand Held vacuum for $39.  And remember HD's promise: If you find the same item at a lower price at any other retailer HD will beat the competitors' price by 10 percent.
