you might say, FATHER's don't really want vacuums for gifts on their "official" HOLIDAY. I'd say dyson DC16 Hand Held would be a welcome power tool around the workshop and garage.

Linens-N-Things agrees. The DC16 Hand Held is advertised for $149 BEFORE a 20 percent off coupon valid through June 17, Father's Day. LNT and Bed Bath and Beyond are struggling with sales primarily a result of the protracted housing market retrenchment. Economists now predict no real come back until 2008 for a housing slump that began in late 2005.
Circuit City features the DC18 dyson lite for $469. And continues the dyson mantra "No clogging, No loss of suction." Didn't get the ASA memo. No loss. At $469, you can beat the price.
TARGET has a nice twist: The DC14 Drive (a dyson Exclusive for TARGET stores) for $459 and a $50 Giftcard. It still has the dyson mantra too. Change is slow for the vacuum industry even for a self-proclaimed dyson maverick.
KMart gets into the sales venue too with two hand helds. Both Black and Decker: The wet/dry Dustbuster and the Cyclonic Dustbuster for $17 and $32 respectively.
And just about all the retailers have Shop Vacs and Rigids on sale for the garages and workshops.
But the weekly ad kudos go to Dave and Oreck who passed by the Sunday ads and stuck with the weeklies. ORECK revives the "think pink" campaign for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. With the XL for $299 and the usual giveaways (iron, canister) Oreck will donate a portion of the proceeds from the XL sales to the Foundation. And this kicks off the official ORECK mid-year sale.
The National Retail Foundation estimates that $9.9 BILLION will be spent for FATHER'S Day in 2007. This compares to $9 BILLION in 2006 and $15.8 BILLION for MOTHER's DAY.
Happy vacuuming.
