HOME DEPOT joins BEST BUY and Wal*Mart with price reductions on the BISSELL Healthy Home now also for $249.  This was rated as number 10 in the March 2007 Consumer Reports ahead of the more expensive bagless upright models.  And it has a turbo tool on-board.  BISSELL also offers a $30 Mail in rebate.  If HOME DEPOT doesn't have it, check out the BISSELL Web Site.

Also on sale from today (March 9) through March 18, the dyson DC14 All Floors for $429 BEFORE a 10 percent discount.  $387 is not bad but Linens-N-Things and Bed Bath and Beyond with 20 percent off MSRP probably is better.  Not to mention the 15-55 percent off at Kohl's on all Floor Care and Rug Cleaners.  Check the Web Sites for the stores near you to see if it has the model in stock and on sale.

Also on sale at HOME DEPOT the HOOVER Empower bagless for $99.  Not the best price on this popular seller which has been in the HOOVER line up since the spring of 2004.  Other retailers may have it as low as $69.

Hi Carmine, this is a very good idea[has been done by someone i know], used an old school bus,The only problem is that after a while, you have created a monster. Just take on what you can handle.

Then you can always rent the bus out for sightseeing tours.....

COSTCO has the HOOVER WT bagged Self-propelled on sale through April 30, 2007 for $217 BEFORE an $18 Rebate from HOOVER.  Final cost $199.  Comes with a one year supply of 3M Filtrette paper/cloth bags and the extension hose for a cleaning reach of 20 feet.  THis vacuum is made in Mexico and has a ONE YEAR UNCONDITIONAL PRODUCT WARRANTY from HOOVER.  Also has the UL and Good Housecleaning seals of approval.  The GH seal allows a 2 year product replacement if the vacuum is defective.  This model also comes with a turbo tool on board.

Fry's Electronics has 3 upright bagless vacuums on sale.  The Euro-Pro Infinity (teal blue) for $169; the HOOVER Elite Rewind for $69 and the Eureka Ultima for $69.

Interestingly the advertising claims for the EP-Infinity are: 24 cyclones with patent pending, never clogs and loses suction, and lifetime HEPA filter.  One of the reasons I like the EP Infinity bagless uprights, despite bagless, is because the cyclones are washable.  Unlike the more expensive bagless brand which specifically warns against washing (and subsequently clog with fine dirt and dust), the EP bagless cyclones will not, if washed as recommended.

THe HOOVER and Eureka uprights are popular sellers with many of the big box retailers who sell them.  Especially at $69 which is $30 below the current MSRP at most retailers.

The vacuum sales this week are uneventful.  The usual suspects and offerings:

CIRCUIT CITY offers the 5 year old dyson DC07 All Floors and Animal for $399 and $499 BEFORE 10 percent savings AND with no interest for 90 days.  Also the BISSELL ProHeat 2X for $249 before the 10 percent savings.  You can do better.

TARGET offers its same same.  The dyson DC07 Animal for $499 with a $50 Giftcard.  The BISSELL ProHeat for $169 with a $20 Giftcard.  Dirt Devil Vibe for $45; BISSELL Flip it for $69 and Eureka Uno for $115.  You can do better save the Vibe and Flip it.

LOWE'S is more impressive.  Full page floorcare ad featuring the Electrolux Oxygen 3 for $499.  This is the the latest big winner from Consumer Reports.  The BISSELL Healthy Home for $249.  Don't forget the $30 mail-in rebate from BISSELL too.  (If Lowe's doesn't have it, check out the BISSELL Web site.  This model was rated number 10 by CR in March 2007 ahead of the more expensive bagless brand and models.  The HOOVER All-Terrain Dual V for $299.  HOOVER Elite bagless Rewind for $89; Eureka Maxima for $49 (another option to consider along with the Optima) at 14 pounds and 25 foot cord (but no turbo); and two BISSELL Deep Carpet cleaners for $89 and $159.

LOWE'S is the winner for its presentation of the floorcare products.  Having adopted the practice of stating the weight, cord length, and warranty periods along with all the other product descriptors.  All retailers should do the same for their ads.

Finally the best for last.  Unfortunately not for vacuums but for industry goings-on.  Both the Sunday Parade and the USA Weekend have full page ads by MAYTAG.  Why?  Product safety recall.

Here's the verbage verbatim:

"Select Maytag brand and Jenn-Air brand dishwashers liquid rinse-aid can leak from the dispenser and come into contact with the dishwashers internal wiring, which can short-circuit and ignite, posing a fire hazard."

The ad lists model numbers for 12 Maytag and 5 Jenn-air dishwashers.

"These models were sold at department and appliance stores and by homebuilders nationwide from July 1997 through June 2001."

Number to call: 1-800-675-0535 and/or www.repair.maytag.com

And finally at the end of the ad:  "This recall is being conducted in cooperation with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission."

Poster's Note:  The CPSC is the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT Agency that recently fined HOOVER (Maytag's company at the time) $750,000 for not informing it within 24 hours of knowledge of a potential safety hazard for the HOOVER WT.   It's nice to see that a US government agency finally is taking a partnership role with the industry to ensure US consumer safety rather than the usual "GOTCHA" mentality approach.

A couple of retailers have St. Patrick's Day vacuum sales.  Fry's Electronics has the Euro-Pro Infinity upright bagless for $199.  This is the top of the line E-P red model with 24 cyclones that never clog (Fry's claim) and the pet care system.  This is a $50 price reduction from the MSRP when the vacuum was intro'ed.

SEARS has 3 floorcare products on sale for one day only: March 17.  The Eureka Maxima for $49, a lightweight bagless upright with full size cleaning swath and tools on-board.  The Kenmore bagged canister with power nozzle (with PN headlamp) for $149 and the BISSELL Quicksteamer for $89.
