Perhaps you were not using the HOOVER WT correctly?  The red light means more dirt is detected in the rug and requires more vacuuming and the green light means all dirt is picked up, you can move on.  THis is a little tricky for some users because they think the red light means they can "stop" vacuuming.  Just the opposite is true.

BTW, did you read in the Wall Street Journal the SmartMoney pick for the Best Value in a luxury sedan in 2006?  Model and series?  And the reason?

Hint: It's German made.

Yes, Carmine I know hoe to use the lights.    Best value does not always relate to best product.  Chevy is a better value than any German auto.
Owners of German autos rate them highly because they hate to admit to being foolish for buying them.

Best Luxury Sedan was rated by the SmartMoney editor of the Wall Street Journal and based on: Features, comfort, OWNERSHIP costs AND fuel economy.  Since you probably missed it or don't read the WSJ it is the BMW525i.  Do you remember this make and model?

And I quote: "While other luxury manufacturers have cut back or eliminated their FREE maintenance programs, BMW's gratis fluid changes and inspections help keep the 525's FIVE year costs surprisingly low. (Remember I mentioned their full service warranty of 4 years/48000 miles on all service and parts free).  Combined with strong resale value and stellar handling, it helps to clinch the victory in this category."

You may recall my discussions of this make and model under the thread for the 5 year dyson warranty.  You impugned my comments as you usually do.  If you can't recall, I'll repost the link for you.  Although it might be embarrassing for you.

I'd say the Wall Street Journal SmartMoney editor is a pretty good source of product recommendations/corroboration.

BTW, there is a 4-6-8 week waiting list and time for delivery on these vehicles.  Not to fret.  You can go on-line and see exactly where the vehicle is and when AFTER the sale.

I do not consider WSJ to be an auto expert.  Do some research and see what the BMW's are like to own.  $500 for headlights which are not covered under warranty is a start.
Infinity M35 scores better than the Beemers.
I recal most of your 1st predictions,  because they have ususally been wrong.

Did you read the WSJ article?  The Infiniti G35 gets an honorable mention for 2007 due to the luxurious revamp and 20 plus HP boost ($31,450).  Not bad information and commentary for a non-auto expert.  Grin

And the BMW 5251 headlights are covered for 4 years and/or 48000 miles.  Wink

Read about real world experience with the beemers Carmine.  Dealers will do all possible to find a reason not to honor a warranty.  WSJ reports on a few hours use with an auto, not months or years.

Are you also an auto expert?

HARDSELL:

You didn't answer my question: Did you read the WSJ SmartMoney article on best values for 2006 vehicles?  Do you ever read the regular weekly columns on automobiles in the Wall Street Journal?

If you do, you know that the SmartMoney editor of the Wall Street Journal recently had a article recommending previously owned Toyotas as a better buy than new ones.  Would you agree?  Do you think this is an opinion of an expert?

The same editor selects the BWM 525i as the best buy in the luxury sedan category due to the lower ownership costs over the first 5 years BECAUSE OF THE BMW WARRANTY.

You impugned my opinions about BMW because I expressed them.  Now that my opinions are corroborated by the SmartMoney editor of the WSJ, you are trying to impugn the WSJ.  Most readers would use the WSJ as an authoritative source for auto info.  I doubt that the WSJ hires amatuers to write columns on cars.

I read the Wall Street Journal.  I like the WSJ.  Especially the auto columns.  Real life information about cars and their warranties that you can use and profit from, like the BMW 525i and previously owned Toyotas.  The only drawback is that it doesn't have the daily "funnies."

One of your favorite publications rates this way:
MOST RELIABLE:
SEDANS: Lexus GS300/GS430*, Infiniti M35/45*, Lexus IS300 (2005), Honda Accord Hybrid*, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord 4-cyl., Lexus LS430

LEAST RELIABLE: SEDANS: Jaguar S-Type, Lincoln LS, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Saab 9-3, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 5-Series (V8), Audi A8, Chrysler 300 (V8)*, BMW 7 series

Lexus and Toyota lead the way in quality after 90 days of ownership.  How long does WSJ drive a car before reporting?  Real life information relates to more than a test drive.  Convince me only after testing more than one vehicle.  Take it to a dealer and report on how the service (repair) was handled.

You presented the opinion of 1 publication and I gave another's.  2 reports, 2 different opinons.  Which is correct?

The price increases on the BMW's reflect the added warranty.  How much does it cost to service an auto for 50,000 miles?  10 oil changes and oil filters = $300 or less.  Air filters $35 or less.  Wiper blades $50 max.  These are the only maintenance items that should be necessary in 50,000 miles.  These same services at a BMW dealer would be 5 to 10 times more expensive.

The 525 may be a value at it's price point but it still is not a real value for me.

It is a known fact ( of the buying public ) that used Toyota's are excellent values.  It is also a known fact that BMW's are very problem prone and not as valued for quality on the used market.  This without the opinions of a variety reporter.

Perhaps the  BMW warranty will give a perception of better quality.   I pity the owners after the honeymoon (warranty) has expired.

Much better Forum commentary than personal impugning and attacking.  Can you do the same with your vacuum opinions, when you have them?

I note your last statement about the BMW warranty:

"Perhaps the  BMW warranty will give a perception of better quality. "

I recall an astute Forum poster making the EXACT same statement early on about the extended 5 year dyson warranty.  Which? rated dyson the least reliable of all vacuums, both uprights and cylinders, for 7 consecutive years.  The dyson extended warranty gives the perception of ameliorating that fact and condition.  Seems consumer opinions on extended warranty and coverage crosses product lines and brands AND countries.

The usual array of vacuum cleaner sales, nothing special BUT.............

Check out the Sunday Circuit City supplement and in particular:

http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/categorylist.do?N=20013161+20013881&catOid=-13881&c=1&cm_re=main%20marquee-_-Floor%20care-_-All%20vacuum%20cleaners

Several  months ago Jim the Old Time Pro alerted us to the fact that portable vacuums would be added back to the CC venue to increase store traffic.  And the time has come.  And it is the only retailer this week to advertise the dyson 5 year warranty.  Kohls, TARGET, BEST BUY, Linen-N-Things are all silent on the dyson warranty.

Speaking of Linen N Things, dyson gets the 20 percent off coupon AND a $100 gift card up through October 22, 2006.  Any single vacuum purchase over $229 gets the $100 and 20 percent off.

As I pointed out on another thread, KOHL's has the Blue Infinity Euro-pro bagless for $199.99 PLUS an additional 5, 10, 15, and 20 percent off sticker from the mail out catalogue.

SEARS has an ad for the Dirt Devil Featherlight for $39.95.  Interesting it is not part of the vacuum cleaner ads but part of the specials.
