Giving the $100 gift card may be the way to move old stock out to replace with new since they can't do sale prices on Dyson. After they sell old then maybe they will advertise the 5 year warranty.

Hello Tiger21, O/T: HAPPY LABOR DAY

Dyson and Target stores are offering the 5 year warranty on all dyson models, including the new DC07 pink special edition for Breast Cancer Research Foundation.  The Target Store in North Las Vegas Nevada had the new 5 year warranty cards (no carton stickers) on all the dyson display models before Sept 1, 2006.  So did the RC Willey and Costco stores in North Las Vegas.

This week only Target stores give away a free $100 Gift Card with the sale of any dyson at the cashier counter.  If you buy the dyson with a Target REDcard you get an extra 500 bonus reward points AND 10 percent off all the Target purchases for the entire day.

So breaking it down, a new $399 DC07 costs the buyer $$259.  (with the $100 Target Gift card and 10 percent off factored in and not adjusting for local sales taxes).  Well below dyson MAP.  And the DC07 pink model has $40 of the sales price go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Excellent creative sales advertising and marketing by dyson and Target stores.  Hard for the independents to compete with this deal especially when you factor in the liberal return/exchange policy by Target stores.  This will move dyson vacuums off the Target Store shelves.  Target also has the exclusive dyson model DC14 Drive which sells for $459.

Retailers are resuming vacuum ads this weekend now that school is back in session.  The usual suspects like HOOVER WT 2 and dyson uprights are getting the nod from all the big boxers.

But Carmine's kudos go to Lowe's the "Lets Build Something Together" store which now adds the vacuum cord length and weight to advertisements.  Did Lowe's see the Consumer Reports video and ratings and decide they liked what they saw?  Maybe so.  And thanks too for Lowe's who sponsored this week's Football OT show with Howie Long, Brad the QB and the Dallas Miami coachman Jimmy the "Hair Du" Johnson.

Here's the Lowe's lineup:  The complete Bissell line with the popular Lift Off bagless upright which weighs in at 21.8 pounds and has a 30 foot cord for $169.  Tony Danza had Dr. Gadget on his show this week and Dr. G featured the Bissell Lift Off as the vacuum to make housecleaning easier (seems I read a post by Venson about this too) with giveaways to the audience.

The dyson DC14 Animal weighs in at 18.58 pounds and sports a 35.4 foot cord for $549.  (Check out Kohls this week offering 15 percent off dysons with the Kohls' credit card.) Beats the dyson MAP.  If you have a one time extra 15 percent off for the day, a whopping 30 percent off the price.  Talk about creative sales and marketing!

And for the low low price of $199 the HOOVER WT Self-propelled bagged weighing in at 20 pounds.  The tried and true GOLD STANDARD for rug cleaning.  Lowest WT price around, thanks to the new HOOVER WT 2's entrance.  HOOVER WT, with the embedded dirt finder and fitrette bags, is still the best and quickest rug cleaning upright on ALL rugs and carpets not just the low and normal.

Hats off to Lowe's for a great new advertising idea.  Let's see the others follow.

Hello Chris:

Too bad, you're missing out on interestsing advertising innuendos.

SEARS has HOOVER WT 2 and dyson head to head, so does KOHLS.

This is done by a retailers for a reason IMHO.  Head on product and brand competition to see the sale results.

I saw the BB too.  Eureka Altima and dyson DC07.  Low end and high end.  No product competition.

Kohl's plans to run a home sale from Sept 23-30, 2006.  Two vacuum brands will be advertised in the mail out catalogue: Bissell and dyson.  The dyson models featured will be the DC07 All Floors, DC07 Animal, and DC15 Ball All Floors, and the DC14 Animal.  All are advertised at MSRP in the mail catalogue BUT some and/or more Kohl's stores will discount the prices in the stores down from the advertised sales prices in the catalogue.  Creative marketing to move the merchandise.

And Kohl's will advertise the new dyson 5 year warranty in the mail out catalogue.  The first big box retailer to do so.  Advertising the warranty to move the merchadise.

Kohl's just upped the ante.  They are blitzing their card holders with a mail out for an additional 15 percent off on all purchases AND if you open a Kohl's charge too you get 15 percent off.  Big sale.  Trying to move the merchandise.

Slim pickens this week for vacuum sales and advertisements.  The season TV premiers are getting all the premier space.

Big winner is Lowe's.  Eureka-lux (thanks to Consumer Reports), HOOVER, Bissell, Eureka Boss Vac and dyson all on sale with cord length, weight and warranty prominently provided.  Nice touch.

Big winner this week is the HOOVER Windtunnel, 1 and 2.  SEARS and BEST BUY feature HOOVER products and in particular the HOOVER WindTunnel bagged and bagless 1 and 2.

One of my favorite HOOVER WindTunnel's is the Supreme and SEARS features it this week for $119 with the turbo tool.  That is an excellent price.  The only way this deal can be better is with a pack of filtrette bags (Style Y) and/or the 20 foot hose extension.  You get a keeper for years that will perform EXCELLENTLY deep cleaning and grooming like no other vacuum ever made and sold.  And it will do so on ALL USA carpets, not just the low ones.

This WT Supreme model is often demoed by HOOVER and other vacuum retailers to customers with alot of wall to wall carpets, and in particular medium to high pile and plush rugs.  Buries the competition in the rug fibers.  This HOOVER includes an embedded dirt finder light so you know when the carpets are clean and can move on.  Talk about a time and work saver HARDSELL, well as my old friend Sammy D J use to say: This be the one.  That saves users time and work AND MONEY.  Buy two and/or 3 for less than the leading competitor and gift them away.  You'll be a hero.

My  WT was self propelled and had the dirt finder.  I never found it to be a work saver and I have been a hero in my home ever since I replaced it with the Dyson.
