I see it is a cordless hand vac. It is not supposed to lose suction. So far I have not seen a cordless that could retain its full performance for very long . I will wait to see for myself when it comes out.

Amazon.co.uk has it live... Looks like Dyson isn't going to do much press on the DC16 or 18. All the press went into the AirBlade.

Probably no HEPA Filter!  Amazon says it has a 2 year guarantee!  I thought ALL new Dyson has 5 years!  Typing error may be!
 
I'm surprised if there is no press launch with the DC16 and DC18!  Espeically the DC16 with it being a whole new product and market Dyson has not entered, hand held vacs! As fo the DC18 there is not much new on it, when you look at the picture and description so far.  It's an updated DC03 and very slim!  Just using parts (which have been improved) from other models:
 
IE: Root 6 of DC16, same cleaning head/nozzle as DC15, wand same as DC14, DC15!
 
But then again I would espect some launch from them on both products!

That featured animation on the home page would make a great commercial.

The official U.S. press release from Dyson about the DC16 and DC17 is this Friday, October 13.  I am not permitted to talk about the specifics of the machines until then.  I have seen, run, and used both of them (16 and 17) and have taken them apart, so can talk with authority about both (but not until Friday).  Will be taking DC16 to Chicago for the VCCC Mini Meet this weekend.
 
What do I think of DC16?  Well, it's unique.  The appeal for it will be to people who already own a full sized Dyson. This model, they can hang on the wall and use in an instant.  With a 3 hour recharge time, it should always be ready for instant use.  It's a very powerful hand held vac.  It picks up pet hair (cat hair) very well without a revolving brush roller - I proved that to myself last month when I was using one to clean up, well, cat hair.  There are two strips, like on a Miele Art, that clean up hair very well without a revolving brush.
