RAT

At $499 the dyson DC15 is not selling at BEST BUY.  What dyson did by lowering the price $100 was to impugn the integrity of the vacuum.  $50 like I said would have been believable.  Just like the DC07 from $399 to $349.  But $100 in less than 5 months.  BAD marketing of the DC15 from the start and still.

It begs the question by buyers what's wrong with this vacuum?  The DC15 is the best selling reason to buy an Electrolux Oxygen at Best Buy.  Compare the two for quality and craftsmanship.  The Electrolux wins with all consumers everytime.

DC15 is history at BEST BUY.  It's just a matter of time.

Carmine,

Thank you, thank you, thank you.  It would appear that buyers and management for many chain/big box stores, etc., don't seem to notice or have knowledge that people, once interested in a product, will return now and then to see if a high-priced item they have in mind to buy has been lowered in price a "little bit."

Severe drops in price do make many a would-be consumer wonder when a high-priced item, say the DC-15 with its  $600 market entry, drops markedly in price.  What else is one made to think except that maybe the item is not all it should be and maybe worthless at any price in light of even further lowered pricing.

Dyson would have been much better off with more consumer friendly prices or possibly even venturing for a slow build of public interest by looking for a little exclusivity by limiting itself just to vacuum shops.  A vacuum shop at least usually offers demonstration by relatively competent personnel.

My Best Buy sets the box out on the floor and the cleaner on a shelf and now more than ever before don't bother asking specifics.

In any event, I reiterate the many times during my tours of the stores where I've heard shoppers saying, "I don't care what it does, I'm not spending $600 on a vacuum cleaner."

All the best for the holidays,

Venson

dodging the lines of young adults staking out overnight for the Xbox launch tomorrow at our BestBuy, I noted a buncha floor samples of vacs including both Dyson and Hoover.
Most of them looked like they were in sad shape, full of dirt and with strings wrapped around  brushrollers.  The Dysons (not ball) were as low as $200 while one of the Hoover Windtunnels (didn't see the model number - was not top of the line) ran for around $50.

Have other BestBuy-ers seen for-sale  floor sample vacs in sad shape?

Hi,

On occasion but as I said, my local Best Buy doesn't let the goods touch the ground.  Every vacuum has to be viewed on a shelf that is somewhat higher than counterheight.

Vacuums have to be lifted down either by customers or salespersons for demos.  Everything is on the floor at my local PC Richards.  My Best Buy's thing with stacking must be some sort of perceived sales strategy.  Though it's a very large store they seem to want to pack it full with as many rows of merchandise as possible.

All demo vacuums usually suffer mishandling.  Machine's with bags improperly in place or missing are used for demonstrations.  Matter of fact I've begun to believe the vacuum to buy is whatever brand/model best survives the abuse of mishandling while on display.

"I'm 3 for 3.  When the DC15 is dropped by BEST BUY, I'll be 4 for 4 and when the DC14 is left, I'll be 5 for 5. "

I am going out on a limb and predicting that the DC14 like the DC07 will also be replaced in all stores someday.  I also predict that it will be replaced by another model from Dyson.

You might be right (that you are going out on a limb).  Personally I like the dyson play toy for a replacement.

I'm not going to ask HARDSELL what he sells and why?  He won't answer.  I can make that prediction with 100 percent certainty.

Or, is he in the predictions' business or business of predictions now? Cheesy

Here's mine.  The DC15 is history at BEST BUY.  Just a matter of time.

I sell nothing.  Another failure on your part.

Just mimicking an old fool.  Unless you can predict something that is not inevitable you should give up.

You are right Carmine.  DC15  will leave BB.  You were just told why on another post.  BB does not keep selling last years products.

You also said that Dyson would not last through the year and that bagless was on the way out.  Why hasn't Hoover concentrated on a new bagger rather than bagless.  This is true for most all other brands.

LOL you COF.

Here's my prediction, best buy will still sell the dyson, but the price will be cut by a huge margin, they will sell it at under 300.00 for the dc-14, they will be in line with other high end bagless uprights, such as the vax, I'm sorry guy's but the trend for pricey bagless portable vacuum is almost over, from our stores retail experience not to many customers ask about dyson anymore, or if they do ask now the question asked is it worth it, this will be my last post for anything to do with dyson, till the start of the new year. I also know by saying this that it takes some companies rep's job a lot harder. But come to think of it we cant think of any company rep's, that didn't feed us a line of b.s.

Old-timer:

Excellent prediction.  Agree.

I have to laugh how my one prediction on January 2 2005 about BEST BUY and other retailers culling and dropping the dyson line caused such a furor.  For mere product users, that one post kept Bruce, Justasking2, HARDSELL, and a host of others (the latest a supposed College student with a DC15) busy on the Forum all the past year.

Amazing how persistent and enthusiastic these dyson users are when it comes to their household vacuums.  They come the Forum day after day, week after week, month after month, for a year taking turns responding to my posts and praising their dysons.   They should all get a group award from dyson for their performances.  At least a free play dyson for Christmas.  Grin

Jack, Matt mmc don't forget to add these proud dyson users to your gift list for Christmas.  At least a Christmas card for all their hard earned work.

He who laughs last laughs best.  HAPPY THANKSGIVING.

As stated before, I don't think it is my enthusiasm for dyson that keeps me responding to your posts.  It is the smug condescending and dishonest way you treat dysons and thier users.   I happen to be online most days and to keep a page bookmarked for an oppurtunity to take on a schoolyard bully every now and then is quite entertaining.  To be honest had you acted the same way on any number of a variety of boards I like to read you would have made a regular poster of me.  I most often have seen this prediction brought up when you make other "predictions" while claiming some perfect past record.  It just happens to be a favorite example of you claiming something as fact that isn't and a wildly off target prediction.  I also believe when others disagreed with it you were eager to have it brought up again so you could "laugh last".  I for one just want to make sure you have the opportunity to have that last laugh in about a month when dyson is indeed out of Best Buy. Wink
