In Canada, what has become somewhat popular is the Taski Bora 12 canister cleaner distributed by Wood Wyant.  I believe the distributor in the US is Johnson Diversey.  10 years ago I bought one for my father's business.  He uses it about 1/2 hour per week.  This unit has been selling for around $400 Canadian (give or take) for the past 10 years.  That's about $340 US.  It comes with hose, two chrome extension tubes and multipurpose floor tool.  I changed the hand grip from 1.5 inch to 1.25 as we were finding that the 1.5 inch attachments were more difficult to locate, not to mention quite costly.  It comes  with a single stage lamb motor (Taski products are made in Switzerland) that the distributor informs me produces 88 inches of lift, and 129 CFM.  It can also be bought with an optional power brush made by Lindhaus.  Bags are relatively large and inexpensive (10 for $28)  You can also purchase an optional microfilter kit.  The unit is fairly quite as well, when I tested it with my decibal meter, It had a rating of about 65.  A friend of mine is a caretaker with one of the school districts, he also uses the Taski vacuum, as Kris told me, he would buy a Taski for his home before any consumer type vacuum.  Taski also makes floor buffers as well, ours is over 20 years old and still going strong.  In our homes, we have electrolux canisters, 2100 series, ultralux, and some oldies like the ap series, model 89 (canadian metal one), an old eureka that takes style K bags,  (at least forty years old), and an old model 12 Lux that my grandfather sold in the 30's.  I've had to repair the families lux products, but not the taski.

Well both the cloth and the paper bag and the dust cup each have their own unique advatages that allow you to custoize the vacuum to different settings.  Infact there's two different paper bags.  Theirs the Sanitaire blue with the micron filter outer bag that screws on, and the Sanitaire red with the clip on paper bag with no micron filter outer bag.  The blue has amazing filtration.  Better then anyone needs.  I would clean the air outdoors and certainly indoors.  The red paper bag is still great, particular with  Eureka's filterette electrotatic micron bags.  The red outbag that clips on has a performace advantage in that the part where the bag attaches to the vacuum is a larger bore piece of plumbing so it can flow air more easily.  Now the cloth bag.  That's some raunchy stuff.  That's hard core industrial duty.  It is the largest bag,  I mean u turn the vacuum on that thing baloons way up, and air can flow through it more easily.  So it is distinctly able to flow lot more air more easily because of it's creater surface area and easier permability.  It's the most powerful bag.  ANd it can pop.  Now yes the filtration is poor, but in a commercial setting where ur vacuuming a huge office building, people are more interested in how tough the bag is, how much dirt it can hold, the power of the vacuum, and the fact that they wont ever have to pay for any more bags in the future.  Another one of the differences between the residential Sanitaires and commercial is the blue has this really nice 25 ft cord where u just twist the hanger and the cord instantly fall of and ur ready to go.  The commercial doens;t have the quick release future but it has a 50 ft cord allowing you to cover large area without needed to replug in the vacuum.  What can I say, in my opinion it's the best vacuum made, my screename isn't Sanitiare for nothing.

Hi Vernon,thanks for the reply to my request. It looks like this machine is a real up an comer. The pricing is right there  probally due to trading with the commercial end of things,good stuff at a great price.[NO NEED TO ADD USELESS HYPE AND CLAIMS]. That add to the price. Over a period of time it should be very easy to sell.  
 
Many collectors would go nuts over that eureka rotomatic machine, the hose end at the machine end are very hard to find,some were metal,most plastic,love that 360 degree swivel.....
