I did not see you comment about this statement when it was said. You see, it is not just one-sided.

My take on these statements is that they really are not needed. HOOVER, Dyson, ORECK, Dirt Devil, etc. can coexist.

I have never known the vacuum industry in the USA to be a one vacuum market. NEVER. There have always been many different makes and models to choose from at all different prices, budgets, likes and dislikes, and personal needs and requirements.

It's what makes this business and the industry what it is and has been for so many years. It's very competitive and cut throat. The strong survive. The weak do not.

My compliments to ORECK (over 40 years), HOOVER (almost 100), ROYAL (over 100), ELECTROLUX (over 80), EUREKA (over 90) and the many others that have made the journey and are still here and doing well.

We will have to wait and see on the rookies. Time will tell if they have the business mettle and savvy to compete in the USA. Horrah!

Electrolux gets the BEST BUY feature sale this week.

VAX and dyson relegated to the standard sale lineup.

DC14 Animal which appears to be emerging as the "Greater Dyson" over the Ball is STILL priced at $549 with the play dyson. Still too high for my liking. Especially with Sears price of $485.

What will happen to dyson prices after the play dyson offer expires?

In the USA and most of the capitalist world's consumer driven economies, how can a retail business get people in to their stores to consume stuff that they may not really need? Posibilities include:

1. cut prices
2. push something "new"
3. offer unique service

BestBuy seems to be doing cycles of 1 and 2. Wrt recent vacuums, first the Dyson, then the Vax.

Vac-o- matic, watch and see where the VAX prices go in 3 months, will you bet me they wont go down, big box stores are all about the price, what else do you get for your money, free delivery? free assembly? expert repairs?. big box market nitch on vacuums is under 299.00, and at that the on line stores cut their throats, how many dc-14's been sent back to best buy because of the internet, B.T.W. map pricing is also a joke. Check it out. The new electrolux oxygen 3 is already being sold on the internet for dealer cost. And most stores dont even have them yet. I'm willing to bet you that they cant and wont be stopped.

After several weekend ads for the DC14 Animal at $549 BEST BUY is trying the DC14 All Floors at $429. Still not as good as the dyson prices at Sears at $387 for the DC14 All Floors or LNT and Bed Bath & Beyond with an additional 20 percent off the dyson sales prices.

Balancing the DC14 feature ad at BEST BUY is the Bissell bagless for $125. I wonder what make will sell better for BEST BUY? BISSELL or dyson? Time will tell what is left standing and what is left selling.

The competition is heating up.
