Nice looking and neat compact design!  One draw back no hose for above floor cleaning or stair cleaning!

You really cannot compare this machine to the HOOVER Z, because the Z was a fullsized upright w/onboard tools and motor, dirt container, cord, attachments on the handle section.  The Intensity can be better compared to the old vacuum cleaners below and the much newer Miele Art(w/no brushroll)-

On another note, look for a new vacuum cleaner from Electrolux.  It is similar in design to the Meile Art, Westinghouse Converto-vac, GE SV series.  Similar being that there is no bag compartment on the handle like traditional uprights.

The Intensity will be more suited for small apartments w/little space.  I can also see it being used as an extra vacuum cleaner like a "second floor" machine.  It is not meant to be an "all around vacuum".

Electrolux (owned by Eureka) has now copied at least two features of the HOOVER Z.  Eureka has a long and storied past of copying, especially HOOVER.  In the case of the "Z," first, the self-cleaning HEPA filter which Electrolux uses on its bagless canns in Europe.  And second, now, the fold down "Z" design.

Despite the lack of on-board tools, the Electrolux Intensity is an interesting upright addition for US vacuum users (and worldwide if marketed across the globe).  It appeals to vacuum users who desire full size and smaller vacuums.  People who want more suction power and performance time than the stick vacuums but easier and more convenient usage than the full-sized vacuums with attachments on board (uprights and canns).

Depending on the price, the Intensity should be a nimble competitor.  Also interesting, it markets itself against dyson:  "Leading vacuum by dollar sales, Roll over for more."  My guess is that the Intensity will be priced at an MSRP comparable to and/or slightly less than the dyson uprights so it can be sold in the big box retailers.  And carry a two year if not more warranty depending on the price.

Also interesting, it's bagged, not bagless.  Dyson is getting competition from NEW bagged and bagless makes and models.

I agree this would have to be a second vacuum, or a vac for a small household.  I also second that there is no provision for above floor cleaning hardly justifys a MSRP of $299

The link didn't open all the way for me so I missed some of the specs.  16lbs, and a 1qt dust capacity??? 1qt, with my dog I would have to change bags three or four times a day.  I understand the small bag to keep the machine smal, but. . .Are the bags at least cheap?

The Electrolux Intensity's automatic cordwinder is a nice feature and touch.  The brush head resembles the Pronto but with a brush roll.

Reminds me of the Miele Art, but with a more compact storage position, and a real brush roll.
The dust bag is very small, at 1 quart.
The 5 bowling ball lift trick was cute, but I suspect a lot of other vacs could lift them as well.

Chris et al:

Since the Electrolux Intensity claims in writing 50 percent more suction power than the leading upright vacuum by dollar sales (obviously a reference to dyson), does the box and/or the product literature say which dyson vacuums?  Is it the DC14/15 and/or the latest DC17?

I suspect the carton gives the test details but I can't tell from the pics and photos.  Any more details to offer?

The "View" on ABC today aired a commercial for the new Electrolux Intensity and LOWE's which currently carries it.  Very well done.
