Howdy,

I'm trying to pin both wheels to the axle on my 3 year old Ariens but am having trouble. I always used to have both wheels pinned but the left wheel has stopped spinning. In all the research I've done, people talk about pins in the rim of the wheel, which I do not see.

I removed the wheel and found a 2inch by quarter inch pin that had a bit of corrosuion on it. I cleaned it off put it back in the notch in the axle and put the wheel back on over it. I then spun the right wheel and the left wheel would spin with it. I thought I had the problem fixed but after 15 minutes of use I noticed the left wheel was spinning freely again.

Any suggesstions what to do?

I have no idea how these ones work, but I do know there are some people here that can help you if you provide the model number and serial number from the back behind the handle bars.

Should be something like 924xxx or 932xxx.

Your unit has 2 wheel pins. One on right and one on the left. The one on the left is your main drive, it locks your wheel to your axle which drives your blower. You can pin your left axle if you wish ,to allow for both wheels to turn. or unpin the left side for easier steering. Your  RIGHT wheel is your main drive. That pin must be in place all the time to drive your blower, Make sure that pin is not broke. Make sure your LEFT wheel is pined too. Both pins must be through your WHEEL AND AXLE to be locked.
    In your case I think your LEFT wheel is not pinned through your wheel and axle. Check and see if it is. Also check if it is not rusted to your axle. I had a problem with mine like that. Mine was so rusted I thought the pin was in. Remove BOTH wheels , Grease your axles and put pins back through BOTH your wheels and axles.
      Your link only shows a wheel mount clip, Your wheel locks are the 2" long 1/4" dia  pins on your wheels . Those pins are sheer pins and will brake,

I have the same model and just fixed mine.Before you adjust the cable it is easier to do if you take off the cover and look as it is attached to a spring and hard to tell when the slack is out. It is pretty obvious how it works. Mine was more than adjustment it needed to be cleaned and lubed. Careful not to get cleaning or lube down in. It works like a pen. They call it a clicker. Adjustment can not be too loose or too tight it's kind of fussy. The other thing is that it helps to wiggle the machine back and forth at the top of the throw.
