I have two questions on this fine snow thrower that I purchased new in 2008.
First is there a way to adjust the remote axle lock control because when ever I pull the lever in to release the wheel, It takes a couple of minuites of operation the machine before both wheels drive again. This is a real pain with only one wheel driving it.
And the second question is should the engine be backfiring or poping through the muffler all of the time when it is running?

There is a cable adjustment at the back of the frame for the remote axle lock cable. You need to remove all the slack from the cable, but also not pretension it. If that doesn't work, you may need to drop the belly pan and lubricate the assembly. Clean it with WD40 or the like, then grease it with NLGI2 lithium grease.

The Tecumseh engines are far from smooth, especially with the latest fixed jet carburetors. Mine pops and sputters a bit when at idle, but it sings under load. I'm sure there are some "engine" guys on the forum that could give you some better feedback.

Thanks Snowman for the quick reply to my questions. I will check into the cable adjuster for the drive cable. I had an older L-Head engine and it was smoother than this new one. But you are wright, It will smooth out when under a heavy load.
