Hello! Newbie here. New to this snow scene too having just moved to the Northeast from a warmer climate. I've pretty much decided going the route of a walk-behind blower versus a front blade on the Deere due to expense and convenience. I've looked at several walk-behinds and for my modest needs the Simplicity looks well put together for the money. 

I have my eye on a new Simplicity that the dealer claims is a model 755M. That's fine, however I can't seem to find ANY information on the 755 models either "E" or "M".  I've done both the Internet search and in this forum as well. The only info I can find is out on the Simplicity website and it appears from their posted manuals this model hasn't been made since the turn of the century (around 2000)! I'm thnking that can't be right.......what am I missing?? I'm okay with picking up a new prior year blower if it's a solid machine and the price is right. I just need to be able to blow wet snow a few times a year.

This dealer was very helpful and spent a lot of time with me going through all of the ins and outs of snowblowing. I noted too that the sales borchure he handed me has a model i7524e listed as the closest match to what was on the showroom floor. Finally, the sale price is $999 plus tax lubed and delivered. Good deal or not???

Sorry for being long winded. I plan on calling the dealer back this week with this concern, but any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

So here's a theory that's bouncing around in my head; I'm wondering if the dealers up here (Eastern, PA) have sold out of their current model year inventories (this is probably a popular size for this area) and are breaking out prior year left overs and charging full price? Heck, I haven't been up here long enough to know how this works.

In addition look carefully at  the SEPW advertisement- in addition to using an extra 5 they also tell you to call for current models and pricing as well. I wouldn't be shocked to find they don't have a 755 for sale although I may be overly cautious/cynical.

This just gets better and better. Finally, I've got a list price to compare to as a point of reference. Well,  I've got a running list of questions for the dealer. There may be a sound explanation and rationale for all of this. Regardless, this thread has been a huge help. I suppose I'm learning as I go. +++++++

Okay, got the skinny from the dealer today on the aforementioned Blower. It's a 7555M (model 1694836).  After further discussion, he knocked the price down to $929. Couldn't get him to throw in an hour meter.

Sooooo, and perhaps I should start a new thread with this question; As I found a newer model I924E across town for $999 do you think it's worth the extra $70 to have the electric start? That's really the only big diff I see. Do you guys really rely on/use your electric start???

I have one with electric start and one without and I wouldn't buy another one without it. You get spoiled!!

$929 seems pricey to me. A 10" impeller, 12" rakes, small displacement engine (205cc), 13" tires... Kind of a scrawny little thing for that much money. There are machines with much more substance available in the ~$1000 range.... Anywhere really.
