Biggs part needed-urgent
Original Message   Dec 29, 2005 10:52 pm
I'm working on a 5hp horz shaft motor that I got w/o covers so I dont know model/type numbers. The pin that goes into crankshaft and times the gear that drives the camshaft that was broken. Its round with a square top that mates with gear. (It goes into a round hole in crank and is about 1/2 inch long with square top that drives/times cam gear ) I've been to dealers and they know what I'm talking about but cannt come up with part no. one dealer said it was p/n 690979 timeing pin, but that turned out to be a small half moon key . I think its an older 130 series B & S it has steel sleeve , ball bearings, a stand alone carb. stelite ex. valve .Does any one know the model number or part no. on this part? Thanks, Jack

Jack - while I cannot supply you a part number, I might suggest you go to a hardware store & browse thru their keyway selection. I think a half moon keyway is exactly what you need for this - just find the one you need by the measurements you took.

Marty,
I wish a half moon key would work , but  no its  round like a nail with a square head about 1/2 inch long  .175 in dia .   I've started to make a pin. The engine I have maybe an odd low production one that B&S updated soon after production. Thanks
