Looking really great so far! I'm anxious to see it fully pimped out with the chrome hubcaps, flame paint job, shark's teeth around the inlet, etc.

Very good project.  Can you get more detailed pictures of the wheels, I'd finally like to see them.  I guess it has electric start?

VERY NICE clean up of the internals! Glad to see this puppy is getting the FULL treatment. Looks like it will as good, if not better than new when you are done.

 GM,

Are you going to put a slightly bigger engine pully on her??

My thoughts, with the 50 % increase in HP,  you might want the auger and impeller to turn a little faster, and use the extra HP!!

Also, looks as though you are going to end up with a better than new machine. Even better than  a brand new one!!!!!

My 1128 had the wider ones, and my 926 has the slimmer ones.  Can I see the hubcaps when they are complete?

That's a super well done job.  Doesn't look powder coated but still.  Those hubcaps are nice.

I'd plan on three, I think you can get a little more than one coat per can. I found the nozzles to vary a bit, some laid it on nicely and one clogged.
It' s$3.75 at WalMart but some other auto parts stores get $5.09.

Also, make sure you get 1620, not 1607, which is a little darker.
BTW I'm told that this is also the same color as Kubota orange, have no way of checking.

Decades ago, car enamel did not  "set up" and harden quick unless is was baked which was why you could not use polishing compound on it for quite a while. That is why we used lacquer for a high gloss shine.  The lacquer finish was like a mirror but would chip very easily. Lacquer also required a week of drying time to ensure the pink polishing compund we used would not become permanently part of a white paint finish and have a pink tint.

We used to "tap" on a hidden area of the finish with our fingernail to see if it left an indent. If it did, we knew not to try to polish it else tha paint job would be ruined.

GM,

Your engine photos are like comparing the old Patton tank to the Abrahms!!

What a difference!!!

Not sure, I just walk by when I'm coming in the door and there are 5 gallon buckets of implement paint sitting there.   Those engines look the same, but so very different.

Thanks Garandman, having trouble loading pics.

The new B&S Snow Intek is quieter than the old Tec and considerly more powerful. The headlight is the $9.99 rubber coated item from AutoZone. My only mod at this point would be to put on bigger wheels and tires but I don't know what would fit. Being only 20" wide, its a nice little compact unit that throws between 40 and 50 feet.

Garandman,

She looks great...You've got the best of both worlds- old and new.

Heavy duty old time steel  and construction and a modern, powerful OHV engine.

Now if you could just mount a rack to hold an M-1 Garand in case you see a deer or are attacked by Nazi's while blowing...you'll be all set.

This winter you'll have to post some pictures of the blower in action.

This past season I added a home made longer shoot and Ariens drift cutters. I also installed the rubber impeller kit. I was able to keep up with my neighbors newer 824. The head light is powered from the engine alt and I have it switched to the original on/off key switch. All controls for the engine are contained on the engine so my biggest control mod was relocating the shoot swivel with u-joints.

I used the one Ariens U-Joint for 3/8" shaft to make the turn in the shoot crank rod.

looks neat, ill have to take a pic of my neighbors 6hp craftsman snowblower next to my simplicity 32" lol, it looks like it would eat it and not know it lol

The Intek Snow engine is a nice engine, i dont have much experience with snowblowers but it seems to have tons of torque in heavy snow and wont stop, ive moved some big piles of snow with mine packed hard from the street plows

You have to log in to view the pictures at that site. But there are many pictures of the V8 snowblowers around. Chrysler had a competition for Hemi-powered equipment. It was won by a giant tricycle.
