I would like a chance on one of these nice machines.    A mower racing video game, I might buy, but a mowing video game, I would buy.

I think its great that there is a grass roots sport for the common guy who is not rich to have some fun on the track.

Honda stable: HS 724 snowblower;  HRS216 lawnmower; BF2 UWWW; 5 HP, 2200 psi/2.9 GPM pressure washer.

Electric: BV2500 B&D Leaf Hog/snow duster; old 12" Weedeater.

If I wanted to race something that would go 90 MPH or faster, I would drive a BMW before I drive a tractor.

It shouldn't cost much, you don't go very fast.

The ones that do go fast have all kinds of special parts, basically like a go-kart but without the simple chassis and low center of gravity.

There have been times when plowing snow where an increase from my top speed of 6.5 MPH to something like 12 or 15 would have been welcome, but I never want to hit 90 on a lawn tractor. Having repaired a couple of steering systems on some machines, I wouldn't trust them at those kind of speeds.

I haven't seen the tractor races, but around here tractor pulls are starting to gain popularity.  That's what Chris' "monster" tractor was going to be for until he saw that they used bike and sled engines.  I'd like to see the tractor races, maybe not that fast, but it would be interesting to see stock models go at it.

They are probably faster than you realize Sherri.....This page explains the racing series that is established in the US and the different classes (and speeds) that are currently sanctioned. Stock (10 mph), IMOW (25 mph), Prepared (50 mph) and Factory Experimental (60 mph)

I saw a pic of a Snapper LT once, it had a wing/spoiler, the hood scoops, chrome wheels I believe and a built engine. It was good looking, wish I could find that same pic again. I want to say the thing ran in 70mph range.

This gives an idea of what you would see......

And according to this website this is the "Worlds Fastest Racing Lawnmower"
2.93 seconds to cover 150 feet (approx. 80 mph)
