SAE 30 Oil - Full Synthetic ?
Original Message   Jun 22, 2005 8:41 pm
Hi...

Can't find it... Previously bought it from AMSOIL... the only source I found... don't see it in their catalogs or website now... still available ? ( too lazy to call 'em...)

I use it in my OPE... Got Mobil-1 10w-30 instead...

Dave...

Hey Dave,

I haven't found any strait 30 weight oil in full synthetic either. IMHO you don't need it anyway, especially in your climate. If you were in south Texas you might convince me of the need for it but it would be a tough sale. I use 10W30 Mobil 1 Full Sybthetic, it gets mighty hot down here for a fairly extended period of time and I have never had any engine troubles arise or signs of increased wear. It may be more important for dino oil users.

Dave... Please run straight SAE 30 detergent oil in your machines. I do not believe in the use of synthetic oils...

Hi...

In the OPE... I find the 21" mower and BCS tractor start easier w/ full synthetic... like one (or two) pulls vs. 3-4...

And... my ole' Gravely garden tractor gets a hard multi-hour workout mowin...

I like the full-synthetic oil...

Hi Guys!

The Amsoil 30wt synthetic is marketed as "Diesel Oil". If you read the container it comes in it explains it can be used in any type of engine requiring 30wt. My Amsoil dealer still has it on the shelf. He says it only comes packaged in gallon containers.

The Kawasaki owners manual for the OHV engines warns you that while the use of 10w30 is acceptable you can expect the engines to use oil. They state that the use of straight 30wt. will eliminate this consumption.

Synthetic 10W-30/SAE 30
Heavy Duty Diesel Oil (ACD)

Exceeds both 10W-30 multi-grade and SAE 30 straight-grade viscosity requirements. Provides outstanding performance in older and modern diesel engines as well as gasoline engines. Excellent for heavy equipment and personal vehicles. Worldwide performance specifications include: API CI-4+/CF/CF-2/SL; Global DHD-1; ACEA A3/B3, E3, E5; JASO DH-1; Mack; Detroit Diesel; Caterpillar; $#%*mins; Volvo; Daimler-Benz

That's good to know! Guess I'll steer clear of Kawa's until that gets straitened out.

Hi Again-

Just noticed the new label on the Amsoil 30wt. It now says 10w30/30wt. Think they are trying to cover their bases against the Mobil10/30 Synthetic? The old  Amsoil Diesel label read 30wt. Nothing about 10w30!!

Where's Blue99 when you need him? It looks like it says it meets or exceeds both of the requirments, 10W30 and 30W. Got me?

That's interesting, I don't know much about oil grades, but I think 10W-30 is lighter than SAE 30.  I wonder how they mix both of them together to make that.

Marshall,

I use the Mobil 10W30 in my Husqvarna lawn tractor and it has the Kawasaki engine.  I have not had a problem with it using oil at all.  I think they may put that on there just to cover themselves if someone decides to put a cheap brand of 10W30 dino oil instead of something of quality.  I would not let that scare you away from the Kawasaki engine.
