To math or not to math, that is the question
When considering your B school, keep in mind your goals. There are schools that are more academic in intent and will even set you up for a PhD in the future. How deeply do you want to approach finance and economics? Do you look forward to learning all the under-girdings of risk management and long term strategies for corporate investing? If so, you know it involves math, advanced math and the ultra-advanced math of calculus.
Hey, wait, you say, I need to know more practical aspects of running my own business, getting the right business plan, knowing the necessary information to succeed in my field. MBA programs that are more practical only require the basics of math and help you apply what you learn to more pragmatic situations.
Make sure you know whether the school you are thinking about enrolling in has a more academic or a more pragmatic approach to the MBA.
