Management Leadership for Tomorrow
If you are a minority and not quite sure you are ready for that MBA, Management Leadership for Tomorrow may give you the leg up you need to meet the academic rigor you will encounter at the MBA level.
MLT is a nonprofit organization with the goal of upping minority enrollment in MBA programs. They came up with a 15 month commitment that culminates in a four day boot camp and seeks to expose the prospective students to new experiences and building up leadership potential.
After six years the program is bearing fruit. Citigroup, an MLT sponsor offered 50 MLT students positions this year. Minorities represent a meager 7 percent of the student body at the top B schools with MBA programs. MLT hopes to double that in the next decade. Part of the problem they are addressing is the lack of awareness. So they are aggressively targeting high school and college minorities offering free
GMAT test preparation as well as encouraging application to the top schools. There is a curriculum designed for the web that helps a student chart the preparation they need once they are open to the opportunities an MBA will offer. There’s coaching as well, to help college upperclassmen gain quality positions at top businesses.
