GPS meets smartphone
Cingular Wireless thinks you deserve some wazoo navigation on your smartphone. It’s updating some features of its TeleNav GPS Navigator, enhancing it to resemble features on a dedicated GPS.
Own one of the smartphones and you can get full 3D mapping of your route, that will keep ahead of you with realistic street images, a great visual cue when you are driving or walking. Another feature is ATR (Along the Route) searching. With this feature you can locate businesses, museums, or any place of interest. Low on gas? It will locate a gas stations for you! All this without stopping the actual navigation. Not quite sure how to spell “station”? The TeleNav offers predictive entry, with an autofill on addresses you have used before.
The service is about $6 for ten uses, ten for unlimited all per month. If you have the Nokia E62, HP iPAQ hw6920, Cingular 8525 and 8125 Pocket PCs, and the Palm Treo 650, this service is available to you. You’ll need a Bluetooth GPS receiver for non-GPS enabled wireless phones. But you are so cool, you probably have Bluetooth already.
