Digital SLR - part 2
Been thinking more about getting an SLR digital camera. A couple of new models are coming out in time for a major Christmas gift that I am sure I deserve.
Nikon’s D80 gives you a 18 – 135 mm lens (yummy) and ten megapixels worth of quality. The battery is super duper (oh how I hate a weak in the knees battery) with a proclaimed 2700 shots per charge and a readout that will tell you how much power is left. Fits great in the hand with a two and a half inch screen. Price is MSRP $1300 but expect to find it cheaper online as the holidays approach.
Canon also has a new SLR, updating their Rebel XT with the Rebel XTi. It’ll cost me about $400 less, but the lens is an 18-55 mm starter model. The nifty option is it’s sensor cleaning system to prevent dust from collecting inside when you change the lenses. Evidently when you turn the camera on the sensor inside does a mini shake, and the dust is collected onto some adhesive. The battery gives you only five hundred shots per charge however.
I haven’t made up my mind yet which camera will make my list for Santa but the Nikon has the edge at this point.
