Credit card security
I was reading the other day about credit cards and the idea that to ensure your security you need three things…something you carry (that’s the card), something you know (that’s the password) and something that is you (fingerprint, retinal scan, etc.)
To enhance your credit card security more than exists presently, Innovative Card Technologies has come up with a card that has a mini display in the corner with an eight digit number, the “pin” number. If you pinch the opposite corner, you get a new number. This ensures you actually have the card, and stolen credit card numbers would be worthless.
There are corporate applications of this right now, but due to the cost involved (each card is over ten dollars) most credit card companies aren’t biting. I wonder if they passed the cost on to the consumer if the market demand would increase. With identification theft rampant, people might be willing to pony up the cash for peace of mind.
