Single serving coffee makers

Is the cost of that morning stop at the local coffee beanery starting to add up? But when you brew the coffee at home, you get too much? Single serve coffee makers, machines that brew your favorite coffee product in a single serving, may be the answer.

All you have to do is put in a special “coffee stuff” capsule into the machine, add water and press a button. Single serve offers minimum cleanup and minimum prep. You don’t have to grind the beans or worry about filters.

A basic model can be had for $70 but for the fancier models the prices go on up to over $500. Before buying, make sure you know your coffee needs. Are you stuck on a basic cup of Joe or do you want the variations (espresso, cappuccino, macchiato) a more expensive machine can offer. Then take into account the add-ons like timers and steamers.  If you have a favorite brand of coffee, check out the machines that are designed for that product.

And the capsules? They can cost about ten dollars for twenty. Fifty cents is a nice change from four dollars a day, though. If you want to wean yourself from that morning line at Starbucks, consider a single serve coffee maker.
