The best clothes dryers = big savings
If you are shopping around for a new washer and dryer for your home, there are some caveats for the savvy buyer. There are new energy consumption standards for washers and dryers that go into effect January 2007. This means your local big box is dying to get rid of last year’s less efficient models.
In fact the new rules require the machines be over 20 per cent more efficient to get that important Energy Star from the Department of Energy so the newer machines are going to save you money in the long run.
Evidently new washers will remove more water in the spin cycle, so your clothes spend less time in the dryer. And if your dryer has a new moisture sensor, it will turn off the heat when the clothes are dry.
