Hello Jimmy the P/OT:

You're right.  From economics and business points of view the two significant driving forces on consumer product prices are supply and demand.  The two forces work in tandem in a free market like the USA.  As supply [of the product] goes up, if consumers' demand stays the same, or goes down, the prices of the product have to go down [or stay unsold and on the shelves and/or in warehouses].  As consumer demand for the product goes up, if the supply stays the same, or goes down, the prices of the product go up.

As the supply of new/used dyson vacuums increase, with internet sales of both new/used, big box retailers have more difficulty in selling new dysons for MSRP.  This puts pressure on the sellers to offer buyer incentives, as we see this week with KOHL's and dysons and/or reduce prices [which we see when we visit the stores and check the prices].  This makes it difficult for retailers and dyson to keep the dyson prices inflated.

And dyson retailers like JimB have to be "creative" and "flexible" with prices to continue to sell dysons at the same and/or increasing numbers.  Yes, you can say to customers that you offer dyson service and parts.  But that doesn't get you the new dyson sale if your prices are substantially higher than the market prices.  The more of the supply on the market the more pressure to lower prices to sell.   Given the proposition of keeping the unsold new dysons on hand and/or lowering the prices to sell, I would bet 9 out of 10 business people would reduce the prices to sell.

Hello JimB:

As I mentioned several times previously on this Forum and in this thread, LOWE's scrubbed these words and phrases from its dyson ads months ago.  Long before the ASA ruling was reported.  Why?  It's got some employees with savvy vacuum industry expertise.  And knew it was the honest and right path to take BEFORE the ASA ruling against dyson.

Carmine D.

These words from Lowe's web site:
"Dyson the first vacuum cleaner that doesn't lose suction"
*No loss of suction*
*The vacuum cleaner that doesn't lose suction*

Seems that those savvy employees do not share your opinion.

Hi HARDSELL:

As I mentioned, LOWE's scrubbed the verbage from the dyson ads.  This thread and my posts deal with the printed and published weekly newspaper vacuum sales ads.  You know that HS.  I did not say the Lowe's Web site.  Just as dyson took it's time to change its Web site, LOWE's and other retailers will need time too to change their Web sites.  Probably looking at what and how dyson says before crafting their own verbage.

Would you be so kind to post again when LOWE's does make the changes to its Web Site to remove/revise these dyson claims?  Or are you in a state of denial that says LOWE's and other dyson retailers will not make the changes?

You know what it takes to build and keep a brand name's credibility.  Dyson's was built on false and misleading product claims.  Because of the ASA ruling, dyson is trying to reinvent its brand's mantra after 5 years of: NEVER CLOGS, NEVER LOSES SUCTION.  Do you think dyson will be able to do so?

Your glee for and support for shoplifters and thieves that fence (a sugar coated  word for selling stolen merchandise) NIB Dyson’s on eBay is pathetic.  Not only Dyson’s but any power tool, electronics, Playstation games, Frontline flee medicine, etc, etc.  Just about anything one would want from Best Buy, Sears, Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc. can easily be bid on and “won” on eBay via individuals or eBaystore/pawnshops.  All the while higher prices are passed onto the upstanding moral consumer.  Why don’t you post your business address here or elsewhere and invite whores and thieves to steal from you or your loved ones just so people who do not like you can get a kick, a glee from your loss?

Here is just one more link proving thieves sell on eBay.  http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,206751,00.html?sPage=fnc.national/crime

Also…
In the first week of August CNBC t.v. series “Business Nation” is broadcasting "a how thieves fence on eBay" segment.

An ad is an ad.  IF deception exists the penalty would be the same if the deception is on the web or the paper.  If Lowes is as concerned about recourse as you would have us believe they have had ample time to change the web site.

Of course we all know how you only want to manipulate your BS .

Hello HARDSELL:

I remind you of this after the LOWE's Web site is changed to conform to the ASA dyson rule making decisions.   Wink

You know as well as me that the retail ad people are different from the Web Site people and they don't always work in tandem.  All things in due time, my good friend.  BTW, I've visited 3 major dyson retailers in the last 3 days.  All have pulled the dyson product literature typically displayed along with their dyson vacuums.   You know the fold out pamphlets that read:  "There's no bag or filter in a cyclone to obstruct the airflow, so it doesn't clog which means there's no loss of suction."

If you read the ASA rule making decision it states dyson knows that the root cyclone technology can't remove all the dust/dirt from the airflow.  Hence the pre and post motor dyson filters are installed to do so.  These filters require user maintenance to keep from clogging.

The real issue is not LOWE's and what it says about dysons.  It's the dyson brand name.  And what will dyson do in the future.  It can't use: NEVER CLOGS, NEVER LOSES SUCTION.  It's brand name mantra for the last 5 years.  So what does it do?  You are silent on the question.  By your silence, you speak volumes.

Carmine,  I purchased my Dyson with no thought of the Never Clogs, Never Loses Suction slogan.  I have talked to numerous prospective buyers and none has ever mentioned this either.  They only comment that it comes highly recommended from owners.  I have never talked to a shopper or owner who was not totally satisfied with their Dyson.  I have talked to numerous persons who are very critical of other brands.  I will repeat, only a moron or filthy house keeper would clog a Dyson (or most any brand).

If as you say stores are concerned about returns because of the advertising I believe that they would act immediately to eliminate the verbage in ALL ads.

Lowes may very well pull the add, likely will.  In the meantime it is not doom and gloom for Dyson as you say.  You have preached doom for Dyson for years.  Sort of like those predicting the end of the world as being tomorrow.  I do not see doom for Dyson in the near future.  I did predict that the Hoover Z would be a dud.  How are they selling (with the near give away price)?

Take off the aluminum foil hat and come back from carmine conspiracy land to reality.  Companies will always be changing, tweaking clarifying advertising, marketing, and commercials.  Carmine will always take any act in the marketplace as impending doom for dyson.  In reality dyson US earlier this year decided to move all of it's marketing team and operations from Chicago to New York.  In doing this almost all of thier marketing has changed in the past year.  Messaging is bound to change.  To continue to claim that a British advertising board mandates what can be advertised in the USA is either delusional or downright dishonest.

Carmine it is interesting how you covered both bases stating dyson ad's are absent and will be scarce while a few posts later stating that retailers will be advertising dyson because they aren't moving and giving your ad winner of the week to an ad that is 2/3 dyson.  You have predicted both ways stating no matter what happens it will be proof of dyson impending doom.  Your getting more desperate in you dyson attacks daily.

Hey I haven't heard a McDonalds "want to make you smile" ad for a while that must me absolute proof that they really did not want to make me smile.  I smell class action suit and the pending demise on McDonalds. Wink

Hi HARDSELL:

Stick to the topic.  We're not comparing a product to a brand name.  The dyson name brand is the issue not a HOOVER Z.

I own a DC07 pink.  I purchased almost one year ago from a major retailer.  The product literature and carton make claims that are false and misleading based on the ASA dyson rule making decision.

What would happen if I return it to the retailer and ask for my money back?
