Bristol to Produce Lux Vacuums Once Again
12/31/06 at 8:29pm

In an era when so many companies are sending their whole production lines offshore, it is nice to see a company return to its roots.  After three years in a manufacturing agreement with Eureka, Lux is returning to Bristol to once again make their own vacuums as well as many of the components that go inside the machine.  With tons of new stuff coming, I think many will see the new products as a return to the quality that started in Old Greenwich, Ct.

US companies realize that locating and manufacturing in the USA offers significant business benefits and goodwill.  Guaranteed delivery of product and parts to anywhere in the US within 3 business days.  Pride in making and buying USA home grown products.  "MADE IN THE USA."  Priceless.

Hmm, this is news to me.  I have not heard anything regarding a move back.  It would also be harder for them, since they no longer have a factory.  I cannot see it being cost effective, to move again, in such a short period of time.

The Electrolux plant in VA is still in use all though they moved the production machinery to Eureka in El Paso three years ago.  Much of the machinery they will now use is new, spending almost 20 million so far.  The deal with Eureka was not cost effective for them as the machines had to be shipped back to VA and parts shipped everywhere for the manufacturing.  Also the  quality of the new products will be a lot like the older machines (think Silverado Deluxe here) and most of the people who left Lux three years ago will be returning to the production line so its a definite step forward.   The new Lux  stick vac is assembled here in the USA too.

Cleansweep:

Please clarify for me:  When you say "Lux" are you referring to "Aerus" OR Electrolux (now owned by Eureka) as locating in Bristol VA?

Thanks for your info.

Carmine,
Lux is the Trademark name for Aerus Vacuums. Lux Light, Lux Legacy and so on. Electrolux is trademark name for owner of Eureka.

Hello Tiger21:

Thanks, I'm with you on the distinctions between Electrolux (Eureka) and Lux (Aerus).  But reading Cleansweep's Jan 4, 2007 post, confuses me by the references back and forth between "Electrolux" and "Lux" and the reason for my request for clarification.  I'm missing something which others aren't, so I asked my question.  I was inclined to think Cleansweep is referring to "Lux" Aerus because of the previous reference to Old Greenwich, CT but the Jan 4 post made me suspect, especially the last sentence: "New Lux stick vac."  Electrolux has the stick vacuum (Pronto), not Lux Aerus.  Or is Lux (Aerus) marketing a "new" stick vacuum?  Something Lux (Aerus) has never had in its floorcare reportoire.
