Any comments on the Aria?
12/20/06 at 2:08pm

Now that Lindhaus and some vac stores are advertising the new Lindhaus Aria cannister, does anyone have any comments on it?

I've not seen one yet, but am surprised, given the size of the vacuum, the dust bag is so small (3 liters, well below that of Bosch and Miele).  Also, the hose in the illustrations seems a dead ringer for that used on the Bosch Premium (save the exclusion of the clumsy multipurpose tool Bosch incorporated into the wand handle).

Go-Vacuums has the best website I have found so far, but the info Lindhaus has given them is limited. Not much detail. They sell all models over the internet. I didn't thing Lindhaus allowed that ?

There are three models: Aria Red, Elite and Platinum: $499, $849 and $949 respectively.

As was stated there is not much general and technical specification information on the internet by Go-Vacs (DC Washington Metro Area) and other authorized Lindhaus dealers.  Why?  This is traditional and past practice by Lindhaus.  They are imports, from Italy, and lack a huge distribution network in the USA.  But they are growing.

The Aria's are bagged: Just as all Lindhaus vacuums, noted for their filtration excellence and craftsmanship, are.  And affiliated with Rotofil.

I believe only "Authorized" Lindhaus dealers are sanctioned to advertise Lindhaus vacuums and prices on the internet.  I presume restrictions apply and dealers must meet these requirements  to avoid jeopardizing the sales and service authorization from Lindhaus.

In the USA, Lindhaus has been an upright venue only.  Even worldwide with the exception of some specialty canisters not really for household use.  The Aria is a household canister.  Prima facie evidence that Lindhaus recognizes the increasing demand and market for canister vacuums in the USA and wants to compete.  A trend which has developed over recent years after uprights have been the predominant market force in vacuums in the USA since the 1970's.  Excellent marketing move by Lindhaus and perhaps a sign that it wants to take a more aggressive role in the US vacuum market.

My understanding is a vac dealer is allowed to sell a product like Lindhaus on the internet so long as it adheres to pricing schedules and fully supports the products sold.

Apparently the Aria uses the same filter bag the Lindhaus uprights use - only 3 quarts, roughly half the size of Miele and Bosch's biggest cannisters, but the same as Sebo's C 3.1.  On last visit to a Lindhaus dealer, the bags (which I was told were made in Germany) appeared remarkably similar to those used by Sebo.

That seems to put the Aria at a disadvantage in terms of how much dust it can inhale before the bags need to be changed.  My Felix upright, using the same bags, clogs its bag with fine dust long before my Miele and Bosch do.  But then again, your bag mileage will differ  Wink

Perhaps in 2007 CU or some organization will  test these.

As a side note (per my friendly local Lindhaus dealer), the Aria uses a hose similar to the Bosch Premium, both of which are made by Plastiflex and are quite sturdy  (http://www.plastiflex.com), in that it's wider at the tank than at the wand attachment.
Electrolux used a similar hose approach (either Old Timer or Tiger21 mentioned that here earlier).
