I see you have no answer directly related to my question.  Dyson has no filthy pleated filter that requires constant maintenance.  You should know that.

Of course there is an answer and I provided it to you.  Dyson foamy filters (pre-post motor) require maintenance and replacement just like all pourous filters.  THat's the reason there are bojackers jumping on the dyson filter after market.

My preference in bagless vacuum filters is pleated self-cleaning filters which to my knowledge only HOOVER offers in the HOOVER Z and WindTunnel 2.  If you/others who like dyson vacuums prefer foamy filters like those used by dyson be my guest.  It's your money, time and effort.  Check out the dyson bojack filters  made by Honeywell at Wal-Mart.   Good prices.  I'm surprised James hasn't threatened Honeywell/Wal-Mart with a lawsuit.  Yet?

What money, time and effort. You call rinsing a filter out every six months time and effort. And all the owners I personally know that own Dysons have never had to replace their filters to date.. and these machines have been around several years now. You're simply blowing more hot air around as usual. You're getting to be a pro at it!

KOHL's is offering a $100 Gift Card on the purchase of any dyson.  All priced at MSRP.  Promotion runs for a week.  No other brand is included. Just for the dyson vacuums.

I and many others on this forum do know and know quite well how much of a pro you really are at providing pure BS whenever the "D" word arises in a conversation!

Six months duration between cleaning a foam filter is hardly inconvenience nor is there any expense involved whatsoever.

You and HS are off topic and looking to "flame" to lock out my thread on retailers and their weekly advertisments.  Nice try.  It won't work.

Retailers' advertised sales and promotions are an excellent source of industry information about the success of brand makes and models.  I intend to keep this thread going despite you and HS who would like otherwise.   Wink

BEST BUY is offering a $50 Gift Card with a dyson DC14 purchase.  $50 should cover the cost of both of the dyson foam filters.  Of course, you can also buy the replacement filters made for dyson which are much less expensive than the dyson brand.

Carmine D.

Carmine,
No one is trying to end your thread but when you give out incorrect information don't be surprised when someone corrects it.  Dyson has one washable premotor filter that needs to be rinsed about twice a year and one Hepa filter (that is not foam by the way).  Neither should need replacing under normal household cleaning conditions.  I do recommend my customer buy a spare washable as most think to check it and rinse it before using it and the filter needs to be completely dry for use.

BEST BUY is offering $50 Gift Card and Kohls a $100 Gift Card toward the purchase of ANY dyson in stock.  It just so happens that $50 equals the total price of the two foamy filters for the dyson vacuums unless you buy the bojack brands.  $100 gets you a double set of both.  Two for two.

This is the creative marketing that you mentioned some time back that dyson and retailers would use to sell the dyson vacuums.

As pointed out in another thread, be careful taking this advice as using non authorized parts will typically void warranties.  Replacing a part that does not need to be replaced with another that would void the warranty is not what most would advise.

Jim B:
Excellent advice.
Most vacuum cleaner manufacturers only warrant their machines against Defects in Material or Workmanship. They specifically do NOT warrant their machines against damage caused by use of non-genuine parts, or damage as a result of Normal Wear and Tear.  Accidents and Owner Tampering are also not considered defects, and would not be covered.

To Me, a very long warranty is misleading.  For example, a ten year (or 8 year, or 5 year, whatever) motor warranty is silly.  Reason?  After 5 years, the service center will find some reason (worn carbons, worn bearings, worn armature) that the motor failed, NOT RELATED to a defect in material or workmanship.  I believe 2 years is quite long.  After two years, if something was MADE WRONG (defect in material or workmanship), that Defect will have Already Shown Up.

Interestingly, I have to deal with this on a daily basis.  People come in with Kirbys, with a broken fan (or failed brush bearing or failed switch module) and tell me that the Kirby has a "lifetime guarantee", or that the thing was "broken" when they "bought it".  Which of course, it wasn't.

Remember the forum poster who returned his Dyson to Best Buy, telling them it didn't work properly, when all along the problem was a dirty filter?

Use of Non-Genuine replacement parts is just another way that a manufacturer has to void people's warranties.  The fact that Wally World and Target are now stocking BoJack parts EXCLUSIVELY is a detriment to the performance of the machine and a slap in the face to the customer, who is voiding their warranty without realizing it.
