Yes, as you know independent vacuum dealers sign agreements with the manufacturers they deal with directly. As you also know as a repair shop you gain access to technical information that manufactures don't want handed right over to the competition. This is not only common contract language it is also common employment language. Best Buy, Sears, Target, etc... all will have there employees sign some type of non disclosure language. Any company with propietary information is likely to have some now disclosure language in employment agreements. You must know that companies with propietary technical info would never reveal inside information to a "consultant" such as yourself without having non disclosure agreements signed. Unfortunately as there will always be some nutcase that says we based our Desert Storm troops in Iran there will also be a few bad eggs that don't honor their word hand that information over to the competion anyhow.
I have also had the occasion to sign non disclosure agreements when viewing future products and programs.
Now Carmine I know it may surprise you but one can be honest with a customer about the strengths, weakness, and features of varying machines without revealing propietary technical info and or future products.
Now as for you being "on duty" during Desert Storm/Desert Shield and sending troop movements to the military of a hostile country that is a state sponsor of terror. The US has no diplomatic relations with Iran and this has never before become public didn't you have to sign something not to reveal classified information? ???

Thanks Old timer. I just noticed a PM and it does look like Carmine as taken up my offer for the political portion of this to occur via PM. Still not quite sure how dyson became an enemy in the war on terror
but either way... Now back to Vacuums....

Old timer,
Business has been steady as of late, nothing out of the ordinary. I am not looking at any new lines currently, but am anxious to see how a few new upcoming machines from current lines will effect profits. Also am hearing rumors that one of the current lines is going to have some major changes to their warranty and trying to get a handle on the effects that will have.

Hi JimB, what we find with companies that offer stronger than usual warranty's[standard issue canister motor warranty 2 to 5 years], is that the 5 year and more are easier to sell, some even go 7 to 10 years on the power unit parts and labor, and one that I know of has a 25 year parts and labor warranty on the power unit. I believe that most consumers relate how good a product is by the warranty that comes with it,when customers spend the long dollars most want great protection when it comes to service and parts.

This weekend and July 4th are the official kickoff of the summer and summer season vacuum sales.
It's a HOOVER weekend of sales and the new WindTunnel 2 gets the coveted premier advertising space in the Parade.
And just about all the other major retailers too have the HOOVER WindTunnel 2 on sale.
The PARADE features the Complete WindTunnel 2. BEST BUY features the WindTunnel Surface Command for $339. TARGET has the WindTunnel Extra Reach $299.
It's a HOOVER WindTunnel windfall for big box retailers' sales.
HOME DEPOT features the Maytag Legacy line from HOOVER: Canister for $139; Uprighht for $149 (looks exactly like the FUSION and FUSION Plus; and the SteamVac for $239. (Take another 10 percent off for the Holiday sale).
Even Kohls gets into the HOOVER picture with the EmPower for $79 and the SteamVac for $99.
It's a HOOVER blowout weekend of sales.
Small mention goes to the dyson DC14. BEST BUY has the Animal for sale for $549 before a $50 gift card. TARGET has the exclusive drive for $459.
Big winner for breaking out the summer season of sales is the HOOVER WindTunnel 2.

Do they ever have sales on those pleated Hoover filters?
The will cost more than the vacuum during a cople years use.

BEST BUY is offering a $50 Gift Card with a dyson DC14 purchase. $50 should cover the cost of both of the dyson foam filters. Of course, you can also buy the replacement filters made for dyson which are much less expensive than the dyson brand.

I see you have no answer directly related to my question. Dyson has no filthy pleated filter that requires constant maintenance. You should know that.
