The HOOVER ZEE is assembled in the USA and UL approved.  I suspect the next seal will be Good Housekeeping.

Carmine D.

I guess Carmine's reference to USA assembled denotes a perceived benefit to using USA labor in our country. The problem with US labor is that we demand higher pay/benefits. Something has to give in order to compete with outsourced products. Quality usually takes a major hit. There is no easy solution to this problem.

As far as UL, Good Housekeeping and other's, they are all bought and paid for endoresments that mean very little today. Just about every product including inferior products on todays market now have these "seals" of approval. They no longer mean what they used to in years gone by.

Carmine, I like your style! btw, have you ever taken one of the first-released yellow DC-7 machines apart? Talk about very interesting!!! If you pull away the gray plastic housing that holds the washable foam filter on the side of the motor, you feel around on the gray until you find something stamped into the plastic. Oh I don't know, like maybe letters, or a word............

It says: Panasonic

I'm really starting to wonder just how many strange bedfellows Mr. Dyson has in his past. Let's not forget the selling of his prototype designs to the Iona appliance in Canada (later branched off into FANTOM Technologies). I appreciate what he went through as an inventor, but for Pete's sake! He knew his protoypes were faulty designs and he didn't care. Fantom lost their hide from warranty repeairs and lack of replacement parts and this is why the original Fantom company is bankrupt today!

Fantom vacs failed because of Iona's decision to utilize weak motors that didn't generate efficient inner cyclones, and the fact that they did not implement pre-motor filters which let in dust through the motor.  They figured that they could sell more HEPA filters that way.  However, through that, many machines died prematurely, thus, Fantom technologies was flooded with warranty claims that eventually bankrupted the company.  Dyson merely licensed his cyclonic filtration system; he did not design the entire Fantom line up.

Excuse me.  Is this the same Iona that used to make blenders way back in the 50's.

Regardless of Fantom did or did not do, they knew they were investing a faulty design and Mr. Dyson willingly sold them them the design rights for the EDSEL of bagless vacs! Dyson has no conscience, neither did the folks at Fantom. He knew he was selling them junk-they knew they were buying it. Lest we forget: when the Fantom was first sold, it did not even have a HEPA filter. That came 2 years later.

If what you say is true, then Hoover has copied Dyson in every way.
