I use both the smaller (SEB-217) and larger (SEB-236) direct connect power nozzles. The smaller works great on area and throw rugs as well as on bare floors. Suction need to be adjusted all the way down for the smaller throw rugs with rubber backing. The larger SEB-236 with it's larger opening will not work correctly and sucks the carpet into the brushbar even with the suction at the lowest setting.
Additionally, one can use either powered nozzle directly on the hose end without the wand for handling awkward applications such as stairways. Both nozzles come in handy and have their purpose. My only beef with Miele is they need to provide a slightly longer hose. One or two feet would be perfect.
