Unfortunately, CR has never tested any Miele's with the premium powerhead, so I've never seen any data to support your claim.  However, I wouldn't be surprised if you were  correct.  The Miele canisters with deluxe brush roll appear to be top notch performers.  The canisters with the wimpy little brush rolls are a different story.

I use both the smaller (SEB-217) and larger (SEB-236) direct connect power nozzles. The smaller works great on area and throw rugs as well as on bare floors. Suction need to be adjusted all the way down for the smaller throw rugs with rubber backing. The larger SEB-236 with it's larger opening will not work correctly and sucks the carpet into the brushbar even with the suction at the lowest setting.

Additionally, one can use either powered nozzle directly on the hose end without the wand for handling awkward applications such as stairways. Both nozzles come in handy and have their purpose. My only beef with Miele is they need to provide a slightly longer hose. One or two feet would be perfect.

Maybe they will have a longer hose in the future.  Afterall, they finally put a headlight on the power nozzle.  I like the long hose on the Riccar/Simplicity canisters, because the user does not have to constantly move the vacuum cleaner around.  SEBO hoses are a good size also.

Look's like HOOVER ZEE's coming out week.  BEST BUY has both featured and TARGET has the Z400.

Just in time for spring cleaning.

Although off-topic, just wanted to mention My experiences with the Miele BlueMoon and its two powerheads mirrors Bruce's experiences.

CU unfortunately has not tested the large Miele powerhead (which is mechanically similar to but quieter than the Bosch Premium powerhead.). The Bosch can they tested, and rated VG on rugs, uses the small powerhead that's similar to the Miele's 217 series.

The only Euro vac our Calif. BestBuys seems to carry is the Dyson. No Bosch yet.

All the dysons imported to the USA since 2002 are made in Malaysia.  The population of Malaysia is 60-75 percent south east Asia at last count.

The HOOVER ZEE is assembled in the USA and UL approved.  I suspect the next seal will be Good Housekeeping.

Did anyone happen to look at the motor in the Z?  It looks about the same size as the one used in an Oreck. It has a sound shield around it to reduce the db's.

Hoover may be a good fit with Kitchen Aid.  Left over blender motors could be used in the Z.
