"Aerus still has  a good set of engineers looking to make great products. There are going to be rough spots but the company has been doing pretty good over the last three years in improving sales and adding product. "

i.e. the Trilobite, in large part due to Joe Urso.

Hi Carmine, the trilobite belongs to to the other electrolux company, electrolux a.b. of sweeden, they own eureka, and market the oxygen vacuums under the electrolux banner and the eureka banner. It's very hard to keep a heads up on all of this, Mr Urso sold them the trade mark electrolux , so they could market their products in north america under the electrolux name. Their were 50 million reasons why.

Your welcome, Bruce. The reni fiasco did nothing but send electrolux/aerus customers to the other side, i.e. miele, bosch, sebo, and the ones who just said the heck with it just bought $ 50.00 vacuums, never to spend big on a vacuum again. This is also the reasons that most good vac stores push central vacuum sales and installations.

Old-Timer:

Was the robotic vacuum (now called the Trilobite) part of the sale to Electrolux AB Sweden along with the Lux name?  Urso, the CEO of Lux (now Aerus) carried the banner and pursued the robotic vacuum at Electrolux USA (around 2000 when he combined forces with a battery maker for the robotic vacuum) before selling the name to Electrolux AB Sweden and becoming Aerus.

The Trilobite color, burnt orange, mirrors the colors of the rest of the Electrolux AB line: Aptitude, Oxygen, and Pronto.  A similarity acoss the Electrolux AB Sweden vacuum cleaner product line.

Carmine D.

With two very glaring differences for the Trilobite that make it unlike the others in the Electrolux AB line up:  The name Tribilite (vice Oxygen, Aptitude, and Pronto) and the price: $1800.  At $1800 it's almost 4 times greater than the vacuums.

Carmine, to the best of my knowledge i dont recall aerus ever being involved with robotics, if ever, it was just for a brief period of time, you may be right though. The a.b. electrolux name overseas is an absolute force in the appliance industry. It's very hard to keep track of who ownes what nowadays , look whats going on between maytag and whirlpool, for all we know it could be bought out by goodyear, or Dyson.

The Electrolux 'Trilobite' vacuum cleaner is Swedish through and through; from initial design concept, to actual manufacturing.

You may have seen a 'Eureka' brand robot cleaner, few years ago: this is merely the trilobite (prototype) in different clothing.

The first time the original prototype was ever seen publically, was on BBC Television, in the science/technology programme "Tomorrow's World", broadcast in May 1996; not 1997 as all the publicity material states!

The machine was a blue-green colour, and could be commanded by a key-ring remote control. The machine had to be placed onto its charger (vertically), although the presenter did say that the engineers hoped to build in a feature of self-recharging.

I've noticed the conspicious absence of the words: "Never loses suction" with dyson's advertising by BEST BUY.  I wonder why?

Took a quick look at Best Buy's website pulled up the DC14 animal and it doesn't lose suction.  I wonder why?
