It looks like the canister power teams will make a big turn around this year , more and more people are starting to figure out that uprights are pretty useless in most applications. Unless your on one floor and dont have any furniture.

Hi Old-timer,

You're starting to sound more like me in regards to canisters. I never could understand why so many people prefer uprights over canisters. IMO, canisters by far have always been more versatile for me. The only upright I still own is the Miele Art that was given to me by Miele for in-home evaluation.

Last count, I have six canisters, one shop vac and my latest addition, the Lux Pronto 2 in 1 stick vac. I gifted another of the Pronto's to my business partner after seeing how great they work. He and his wife love it so far.

Hello Bruce, we sell and install a lot of central vacuum systems, over 80% of our trade ins are high priced uprights you probally have a good idea of what brand i'm talking about it starts with a K . Peoples floor plans just do not include wall to wall carpeting anymore. Hence making uprights in these applications obsolete. Most of these trade ins are given away for a vacpan installed. The current price of a top end portable vacuum is exceeding the price of a 5 valve loaded central vacuum installed. Need i say more.

BEST BUY in Woodbridge VA has reduced the prices on ALL dysons in stock from $27 (DC15 ALL Floors) to $70 (DC14 Animal and BEST BUY Exclusive) depending on the model.

Is it a permanent or temporary (sale) reduction in price?

Well the "permanent" markdowns are back up to normal price.

In other Best Buy news..........Electrolux is departing after a very short stint.

Matt:

How much is the DC15 Ball?  $499 of course.  Sounds permanent to me.

And the roll back to the higher dyson prices begs the question: Did the lower dyson prices (usually to jump start sales) result in more sales?  Or did they elicit criticism and complaints from other retailers selling dysons at full prices? (And who couldn't sell their dyson stock especially during the Holiday season).

Electrolux and BEST BUY parted ways, in part, because of Electrolux's refusal to lower prices even during the Holiday sales season.  I'm sure there are other reasons as well but I suspect that was the deal breaker.

BEST BUY is not worried about losing the Electrolux upright.  But dropping the line, leaves a "vacuum" in the mid to high end canisters at BEST BUY.  (pun intended).  Who will get the opportunity to step in at BEST BUY with its canisters?

BEST BUY and VAX X5 get my best ad award in today's Sunday newspaper.

At least here in the DC area.

An absolutely gorgeous high gloss one page two sided (12 inch by 12 inch) stand alone advertisement for the VAX5.  Beauteous.  With all the specifics and details.  AND the VAX website: VAXUSA.COM.

Sale goes through Feb11 WITH 30,000 Reward Zone points.  Worthy of framing.

VAX is the only UK vacuum brand with documented sales evidence of 80,000-90,000 units sold CONSISTENTLY for months and even years.  That's a fact according to the UK experts who track and report on such statistics.

Nice bagless: Cordwinder, Lifetime HEPA, 4 scented filters, traps 100% of pollen and ragweed, Turbo tool  for pet owners, no bin filter, on/off brush roll, bottom release dirt cup just like the most expensive bagless and

$249-$299.

Excellent product quality: a combination of lightweight aluminum for stress areas and high impact ABS thermoplastic.  Nice brush roll too AND a headlamp!

Worth the money IMHO.  BEST BUY exclusive.
