Thanks everyone.  Tiger, is the Ultralux Classic canister as powerful as the top of the line Sears HEPA filtered canister?  You're probably laughing at my question but I really don't know any of the stats on the Electrolux.

I had a Lux 1205 w/ PN1 & "Turbo Tool" rug washer (it was my mom's vac) for many yrs but when I moved I threw the vac b/c it was too beat up (but kept the tools & hose)  Later I got another 1205 from E-bay (w/ chrome PN2) & it seemed to have barely used but STILL in better shape than her original 1205. If CU were to do something innovative, they could do a test on the old rebuilt Electrolux to see how well it does stand up to the modern day units in the same price range.

The LUX may take a beating in the area of "emissions", but, if this is a real problem or not, I do not know..

I take it, that this Electrolux 1205 is American built...

And when a good dealer is found , cherish this knowledge, they may be a dissappearing breed...

My "shop vac" is an old  Electrolux, this makes the others in the $50 to $100 range seem like so much junk - even as brand new...

Hi, I can only tell you what i use in my own home.  We use an electrolux silverardo with a p/n 7.
The machine itself is 25 years old,i have serviced the machine, cordwinder, and automatic twice since new. the power nozzle, attachments and sidekick are off the shelf Aerus/electrolux parts. The standard home solutions aerus bags filter to 94% down to 0.3 microns. all in all the machine cleans to our satisfaction, the canister is bullit proof when used as specified and serviced every 8 to 10 years. the only draw back is the weight , but when the day comes that i have to take a nap after cleaning. I'll just hire a cleaning lady Grin.

B.T.W. after being in the vacuum business for 35 years .When i get home the last thing on my mind is vacuums.........

Hope this helps you
