Hi Venson: No problem on the threads. The oil vacuum appears to be a current and future fix for big time oil spills and off shore drilling. The hay method is perhaps a one time cure for smallish spills or useful for oil coming up on shore where labor can be used to sop up the oil and gather the dirty oil filled hay for disposal. If this president is serious about off shore drilling to decrease our dependence on foreign oil AND appease the left wing eco-phobes like VP Gore on the environment, then the oil vacuum technology is the best available way to go. It should be standard operating procedure to have the technology on all oil rigs [or close by] to attack spills before they ruin the natural resources if a rig blows. Carmine D.
The hay method is a little far fetched for a job of this magnitude. Perhaps the hay could be used offshore on a small scale to sop up any slop missed by the vac. The oil should not be allowed to get to shore for laborers to dispose of. Once in the soil the damage is done. Better get it up before all of the global warming predicted by Gore. Hot oil will spread more rapidly.
Having the vacuum on the rig is not so good. It would end up submerged as did the rig. Dyson seems the best vacuum to use for this job.

I agree with all. Since a dyson is barely a fair to middlin vacuum for picking up dirt perhaps it will fare better with oil in water. Just think of the PR it would muster. British vacuum inventor James Dyson provides a task force of his dyson vacuums to bail out British Petroleum in the Mexico Gulf.

B-P has ordered over 30 of Kevin Costner's vacuum/centrifuge devices to clean up the Gulf oil poluted waters. With more purchases planned so claimed. The total vacuum devices can purify over 200,000 gallons of oil filled water per day. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Costner donates a portion of the sales proceeds for the devices to the Gulf victims. Carmine D.
Thanks for the heads-up Carmine. Good news I guess. I just wish the powers that be hadn't been so long in following through.

It's a mixed bag [no pun intended]. The oil has differing viscosity from liquid to solid with all degrees in between. When Costner appeared before Congress and tested the devices the results were mixed. I suspect the B-P buy is as much for show, that it is trying to do everything possible to clean up the Gulf water, as for the anticipated and hopeful results.

Lets see how sotero and his handlers[nwo] spin this into a new carbon tax worldwide. Get out while you still can................. MOLE: You were right on the money. He did. Missed the mark as usual. More pie in the sky dreamer than hands on the Gulf. Just throw money at the problem and all will be better. No plan to make it so. It will just happen. And he's criticizing BP? Go figure.
The irony is that the only political figure on the scene now who has experience hands on experience with the oil companies is Sexy Sarah P. She lost, thanks to McCain and Barack. Maybe the Obama Admin can appoint her/hire as a consultant to deal with the Gulf Coast issues/dilemma and then the Prez can do what he likes to do best: Play golf, not Gulf. Carmine D.
