Vacuum cleaner salesman par excellence . . .
Original Message   Jun 5, 2009 9:34 am
Hi,

I checked out the Emer website today just to see what's going on. Emer, I believe, is an Italian-based vacuum manufacturer who has branched out sales to the U.S. I have not used any of its products but noticed that its machines have higher than usual wattage draw. Straight suction canisters rate at 1400 watts which is a bit above a lot of other brands.

If you check out the entire website you also discover that they have picked up the Sunbeam name and logo for an 8 lb. lightweight.

In any event, they have a sales guy who knocks me out. I doubt that many will find it easy to turn him down.

That's great Venson.  Looks like the British accent is passe for pitching vacuums and there's a new southern drawl in town.  A down home country ah shucks buys and girls.  Works right up to the point where he says "Giotto."  That's a pronounciation that gives "medigans" a whole new meaning for the 21 st Century.

Great little vacuum.  Would like it better if the cord could wrap inside the vacuum rather than outside.  Suction looks impressive.  A tad on the smallish side for dirt capacity but it's a pint size cleaner.

Thanks Venson.  I might consider a purchase but depends on the price.

Well Carmine, there's the rub. The lowest price I've seen so far is about $160.00 -- way too much. Pricing for the Emer brand is generally overly ambitiuos but they appear to be doing business.

$160.  That's more than a rub.  That's a rupture.  I might go $60 maybe even $100 if I had a good day at the casino.  But $160.  Not in my lifetime.

Thanks Venson.

Emer vacuums are manufactured in China. Look at one up close. Miele wannabes. The least expensive stick vacs are powerful, lightweight and well-balanced. A person with little hard surface flooring would be foolish to pay $160.00 or more for one, (80.00 less than the Miele sticks) however, someone with vast exapnses of expensive ceramic, wood, and marble to keep pristene and dust free wouldn't balk at all after going through several 40.00 Wal-Mart type broom vacs. Emer knows exactly the type of customer they are marketing to, which is probably why they are surviving with such a small market share.

I haven't seen the adverts you all talk of with the British accent.

However the following You Tube video takes some beating from an American salesman who has clearly read his manual from page to page. However his fast sales pitch would have me pushing him out my front door with my Sebo upright! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GE9W3znd8pw
