Hey Dude, listen to over 35 years worth of experience in the business.Who are we to tell the customer how much to spend, whats good ,whats junk, hepa this filtrete that,on board tools here ,crush proof hose here wire reinforced smooth bore there,

Do you want to know what draws the most attention in our stores, A 1942 XXX electrolux, And a filter queen from 1978, Ones has a shake out cloth bag, the other uses a conical filter cone B.T.W the filter queen will suck a new riccar, miele, bosch, or any state of the art machine inside of it.And it real quiet also,

B.T.W. Venson, im starting back up my Kirby collection again, just for kicks, should see the look on customers faces when i have 20 plus kirbys on the floor in an aerus branch...........

MOLE
Hiya MOLE, Filter Queen has been tops in my books for many years. I know and understand all the arguments in regard to straight suction versus an active brush roll but FQ is one of the few straight suction cans I'd want around to attack someplace in need of a real cleaning with. I hear the the new models with the improved powerheads are pretty good on carpeting. However, I think this brand too is going to suffer some in future due to price. Speaking of Electrolux, I just saw one from 1939 on eBay -- the single vent version with the spring behind it not the inward swing "saloon doors." People also need to see the Lux XXX to get at least an idea of what a well made machine looks like. Then again, maybe they shouldn't. A long time time will pass before we see that calibre of work again. The XXX usually sold for around $75.00 -- right? Considering that during its time $75.00 a week would have been considered a highly adequate salary, I'd think people with an income near that range were getting a real bargain as it turned out that these Luxes are still around and working AND still repairable. By the way, what is Aerus doing these days? Best, Venson

Hi Dusty: You're right and I can't/don't disagree with you. The issue with all comparative particle counter readings in vacuums is where to locate the nozzle for the test readings and consistency for comparison. The best tests are done for canns, where the particle counter meter can be placed in the same location [filtered exhaust air] for comparison testing. Exactly the reason we don't use a particle counter (though we do have one) for use during a demo. Finding the sweet spot where you can get close enough to a filter without surrounding air being drawn in is not an easy task on most machines. While I've been able to achieve 0 counts on some Riccar and Eureka product, the filter grills usually get in the way of producing a true reading. Sebo, with it's soft bumper exhaust is a whole other story. Trebor: Jerrys done Sebo too, just not a vid. We would be the people that the customer is relying on to help them with a decision and they come to us becuase they can't get any help in a box store. We shouldn't be telling anyone what to spend, that's not our decision but we should be pointing out what features and what kind of quality they can get for their hard earned dollar. As with your store, we always find our customers drawn to older Electrolux, Filter Queens, and Tristars. Can't keep enough of em on the floor at any given time. Dusty

HI Dusty:
Thanks for posting the link which is worth a read. The email exchanges between David in Merced, California and Gerry Rubin in NJ which appear to have been posted in real time are an excellent insight into David's reliance and satisfaction with Gerry Rubin's advice and the confidence David has in Gerry Rubin. Interestingly, Gerry Rubin sold David on the MIELE Capricorn w the 236 P/N over the SEBO cann, but for the reasons David explained, it was too late for him to make the vacuum purchase from Gerry Rubin. But, apparently based on this assistance, Gerry Rubin won all future MIELE business from David. All in all, a very nice ending for both. Carmine D.

Thank you Carmine and Dusty, I had read that exchange between Jerry and David, however, I am just a trifle curious to see the Sebo fail the emissions test, since, according to German testing, all the Sebos have S-class filtration, which is supposed to equal or surpass HEPA. Sebo also makes uprights and the new hybrid Felix which is an upright, stick vac, hand held portable and now a floor polisher if you want to purchase the separate motor driven head. What about Lindhaus? They manufacture for the health care industry, and now are aggressively pursuing a share of the consumer market. Maybe Miele does not consider Lindhaus or Sebo or the newcomer,Emer, any competition to them, but it lsure looks like Jerry is setting up straw men to knock down, and avoiding any challenges from any competitor who really 'coulda bin a contendah' Trebor

They will tell customers and anyone who asks, Gerry Rubin included, that the best in filtration of all of the 3 is Lindhaus hands down, period, end of story. I have no reason to doubt their honesty. Most don't push these brands, preferring instead to let them sell themselves. Rarely have I seen a Lindhaus on display in their stores. Usually boxed and new in cartons. And the Lindhaus brand is discussed only if the opportunity presents itself by a customer who knows the MIELE and/or SEBO but is still looking for something immer besser!

When a business bad mouths the competition it is because he has an inferior product to the one he is criticizing. I only trust those who give the merits of their products without being critical of other brands they do not sell. Yes. As well, the insincere “Dyson Dealers” who become dealers for the repairs and steer vacuum sales to more profitable vacuums. Do you remember the woman who told the story (posted) here of walking into an Independent Dealer/Dyson Dealer and was told the DC24/25 Ball would hurt her wrist and was steered to another [higher margin, collection sack] vacuum.
