2)  Older video news:  I could not resist...  A Hottie car-news chick mentions the rumor of Dyson working with car makers, and Oreck gets a mention too (funny).

Really?  It took 65 years for a company [ORECK] to manufacture an 81/2 pound upright that cleans and grooms rugs as well as a full size vacuum and still.  And made easily and simply with 30 parts all from the USA.  A classic.  No one, not even your fave company with 512 dedicated engineers and designers has been able to replicate that achievement after 50 years.  ORECK has a lock on the lightweight vacuum market and the hotel/motel industry.  That's innovation.  Not a ball wheel vacuum.

Dyson vacuums have carried all the other failed dyson products [but no more].  Contra rotating washer:  A dud.  Airblade: A dud.  Dyson's track record on vacuums is all downhill.  The conspicuous lack of responses to MOLE's posts speaks volumes.  Dyson vacuums have deteriorated in a few short years.  Air watts are less, bin capacity is less, filter maintenace is more.  Why?  What does that say about all those 500 dyson engineers?  Look to dyson for the answer.  Hires a classified team of whiz kids to work on pie in the sky innovations.  That is a vote of no confidence for the engineers.   500 versus 12.

I agree.  From east coast to out west here I consistently hear negative criticism from big box stores and indy-s about the dyson tech reps.  Give out wrong information.  Don't give out the latest information.  Don't know the product line.  Don't demo the new products for weeks after the stores' launch.  Don't know the competition.  Change all the time.  Never see them. 

I'm not surprised.  Mr. Dyson, like DIB, impugns the vacuum pros and minimizes vacuum knowledge and experience.  Consequently dyson hires people with impressive credentials who don't know vacuums.  Why would engineers and technicians have to know vacuums to make them better?  They can get all the experience of 100 years in a few weeks of on-the-job training.  Learn by failing.  House wives too are eligible.  They use vacuums.  That makes them very highly qualified to be technical reps and answer client and customer questions.  Right?  Yeah, right!

Dyson doesn't know the vacuum industry and the vacuum history.  The biggest dyson fan alive made that statement time after time.  That's one he called right.  Unfortunately, he was too inexperienced himself and failed to look beyond this shortcoming to see the dire consequences several years later. 

Someone said it very well.  If you forget the past mistakes of history and don't profit by them [in dyson's case never knew them] you're bound to repeat.

512?  Come on, Dusty.  That's over engineering.  One of the top ten reasons companies fail according to a study performed and conducted among USA fortune 500 business executives.  

All of GM with its 8 car divisions has less than 400 scientists and engineers to make all their cars more fuel efficient.

MacDonald's hired one top notch chef, brought him to the Hamburger College in Chicago, and in a few months he alone produced the chicken wrap.  Paid him a 6 figure salary.  A $1.50  menu item.  Turned the company's profits around by the end of the year.

The lowly house wife.  A self proclaimed pro admitted that it was his wife who convinced him to buy an Oreck.  He was so thrilled that he gifted 3.

I wonder why 40 years in the business and he did not know the virtues of the Oreck.

I answer and explain the same old questions and comments from you over and over.  My dear Wife is a genius.  That's why she married me!

Absolutely.  But one major difference: The weight.  The ORECK when launched was 1/3 the weight off the HOOVER Convertibles on the market.  And unlike the Convertibles, which were made to work with attachments, tho they never performed well, ORECK was always a rug and floor cleaner.  A classic.

Some cons listed for Oreck:

Tends to clog. Doesn't perform well on higher pile carpets, especially if your home has any pets that shed. Small motor. Small fan

I understand that the Oreck uses a $25 (or less) motor.  You were critical of Dyson for this.  Why not tell us about the cheap Oreck motor.
