3 Stage Snow Blowers - Opinions ?

Hi to all:
It's been awhile since I've been here but always liked & valued this forum.
Recently, I bit the bullet & filled an item on my bucket list - bought a Honda (HSS724).
Unfortunately I left it too long - age (72) & health are catching up on me.
Used the Honda (wheel model) 2 or 3 times & found it VERY heavy & a bit hard to get used to
having used the more common type of blowers for about 40 years....
So, I bit the financial bullet & sold the Honda - obviously at a loss.
But I still do need a snow blower & will now purchase another one of the more common type.
I've been doing a little research (and searched on the forum) for info. on the type that now have
the 3rd. discharge mechanism - the 3 stage blowers. The advertising suggests that they are
quite good, especially with the EOD mess.
Would really value any feed back from forum members as to the pros & cons of these 3 stagers.

HI ParadiseNFLD,
Do you recall how much you paid for that machine at Canadian Tire? I was looking at that one as well. What about spare parts (auger/scraper bar)? Does Canadian Tire sell them, or do you think they would be easy to procure locally when they need replacing?
I just picked up a Toro 418ZR today from Home Depot, but I'm going to keep it in the box on the off chance I find something else out there.

I paid $499 + tax (end of season purchase). They are currently selling for $599 + tax at CTC in my area.
I already purchased a drive belt to have on hand as a spare....got it from a "local" snow blower repair shop BUT they had to order it in from Moncton, New Brunswick. Cost was about $38 as I recall. Not sure if CTC will sell the parts BUT they may as the machine is "exclusive" to them. That being said, I see many other identical machines, with different "branding" and suspect that parts availability won't be an issue. I am very pleased with this machine and quite happy that I bought it. It worked extremely well for me last year and I expect a repeat performance this year. Cheers = Roger

You have to past the link text like you did there, then highlight the link text, then click the "Insert/Edit Link" button, then paste the link in there, then click OK, then click cancel, then click the "Insert/Edit Link" button again, then delete the void javascript garbage that is in the box, then paste the link in again, then click OK.
It truely is a very simply and easy process :)
Thanks for this - I think the link is available now....
That being said, I don't think I capture the "initial / original" post that had the pictures of the machine.... Oh, well, as the winter season comes upon us, I'll get more practice on the forum and hopefully get back on track.... Cheers
