Edit:
Inverter failed with only 170 hours on it. New inverter installed and it's not working correctly, which is too bad because the engine seems like a very stout piece. If they can get the inverter end straightened out, it would get a higher rating. I've since bought a Yamaha EF2000is and it seems to be a better unit other than giving up some power to the Hyundai.
Previous review:
Bought this generator for light load applications. Very pleased with it. Starts and runs well. Fuel economy is excellent under light loads (500 watts or less) which is what I normally need to supply. Relatively quiet under light loads. Gets considerably louder and thirsty as the load gets near the upper limits.
Price is very good compared to the Japanese alternatives. Seems better built than Chinese brands despite being built in China under license from Hyundai.
It's weight is it's only drawback. The engine is considerably larger than the lightweight Japanese units. If it were lighter, I'd give it five stars.
Date Purchased: Dec. 2012

Cons:
At around 70 lbs., it fairly heavy. Inverters are unreliable. |
